Sorry I have been off for quite a while, around two years or so. I am back now though. Things have been really busy in my life but they are calming back down now. I hope everyone is well.

Allan
Well, summer is cooking away. We had a brief respite from the high temperatures but now they are starting to come back. We had a huge rainstorm last night. five inches of rain in about two hours and high winds, there are trees everywhere today and downed power lines. Oh well, summer is always a time of the year when things get tossed about. Only four weeks to GenCon 2016! I got my tickets and badge yesterday so things are all lined up for the convention. This year I am walking to get into shape for the convention. Last year I was floored by the amount of walking we did each day and I have vowed to be more prepared for it this year. If any of you are going to Gencon please drop me a line and we can do an impromptu meet up.

Have a lovely day and sorry for my lack of posts on the site. :)

Allan
Well here are back to the journal. I am sure that you missed my lovely posts. :D  Well even if you did not here is one anyway. So let's see, I am doing great, I hope that you all are doing well also. I have been working on my Drumming and my Artz at home. I am getting ready to do a set of paintings for a mini exhibition, it should be fun.  Other than that I am planning my Gencon Ticket purchases, I have to purchase them on Sunday so it is coming soon. Things here in Iowa are as exciting as ever, the weather is wet and gray, but that is okay once you get used to it. However my Solar powered watch is not liking it one bit... :(

Other than that I will continue with the works for my page here. Be sure and Check my website www.azieser.com if you want to play some fun games. If you like it be sure and let me know. Have fun and I will see you on the webs!

Snoopy Dance Plz by NerdzLikeTheCandy

Happy winter to everyone!! Even though the first day of winter was last week today is the second day of snow in our area so it officially feels like winter now. It was sixty degrees outside just a couple of weeks ago, but now it is in the twenties and it looks like it will stay that way for a while. To me it feels like a mild start to winter and I am hoping that it will stay that way. The days of blizzards can stay forgotten as far as I am concerned. Though I am not that naive, I realize that we will most likely have much colder days to come before summer hits.

The snow does look pretty when the light sparkles on it and there is a lot of fun to be had in playing in it during ones spare time. Still driving in it can be a major pain that I can live without.

Anyway have fun and enjoy the winter no matter where you are located. Unless it is summer where you are located then have a blast!!!!

Love you all.

November is a crazy time for us NaNo writers. We cram 50,000 words into a loosely scripted novel in 30 days flat, front to back!  Now this year Fallout 4 Releases as well!! There is a game that you can spend an entire weekend on and never get up once!! So please bear with me if I forget to check my DA page for the next few weeks!  :)   Have fun in November people!

Love ya,

Allan
Well today I paid for my events at Gencon 2015 in Indianapolis IN July 30th - Aug 2nd, I believe.... It was tense as a group of my friends and I were all connected on Skype and primed to click the reserve events button. We had all pre-picked the events and had them on our wish lists, still as these events go nothing is promised. We were having  a great time going over the various choices that each of us had made for games to play and events to attend. My favorite is the Dicetower Live podcast event that will have over 400 in attendance for the show! Still there will be tons of games to play and lots to spend money on once the show opens. Heck the trip can be an adventure all of its own. So the clocked ticked down to noon eastern time and then my friends and I, plus several thousands of people clicked the purchase events button. I was number 4,263 in line to purchase my tickets. Seems like a long line but it actually only took about an hour to work our way down through the list to pay for the events. I managed to get all my spots that I wanted, did I mention that there are limited seats for each event? I even managed to get into an event that only has 8 seats during the entire show!

So that is my exciting morning of signing up and paying for Gencon 2015! Now to save up money for the trip, hotel, food and purchases to be had at the show!  Maybe I will see some of you there. If you are attending let me know and we can hold a mini meet-up!
I am working on a new digital art magazine called Basic Art Magazine or BAM for short. I am interested in featuring various artists that I know from here on DA as well as people who are outside of this site. If you have any interest in being featured please submit works to my email address of allanzieser@gmail.com using the subject header Basic Art Magazine and I will look the items over. Also if you are up to being interviewed for this magazine that would be great as well. You can download a brief preview issue from this link: issuu.com/azieser/docs/basic_i…

Please share with your friends here on DA. :)

Createrria

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 25, 2014, 8:32 AM
I have been playing with Createrria on the iPad. It is a game for anyone who loves platformers like Super Mario and others. They are claiming to have over 400,000 user designed levels available for play and I can attest that there are a ton of them. Best of all it is a free game for the iPad. The only reason to pay is if you decide to build levels then you will most likely need to pay something for the various components that you put into your levels. However there are a good number of unlockable and free components for playing around with the level design system. I have built five levels for the app and it is a blast to play around with.  Highly recommended if you like to play platformers!

Inner Peace

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 26, 2014, 6:43 AM

Inner Peace

As we live through our day to day lives we all experience stress at different levels. It is not that we have stress that makes us different from one another it is how we deal with that stress. Do we let it flow through us, taking note that it is passing or do we let it control us?

For the majority of the people out here on DA I feel it is the later that rules the roost. All of us have experienced stress and major loss in our lives. But how do we deal with these bits of stress when they occur? Do we let them pass through us or do we let them take charge of our minds driving us to produce even more stress. It can be an endless cycle if you let it.

The easiest way to deal with this stress is to quiet our inner voices that try to make us panic. Yet this can also be the hardest way of dealing with it as well.  It is important to remember that our biggest enemy in this monitoring of stress is our own inner mind. The inner voice that all of us have, tries to predict what will happen in our lives. But this inner voice is lying to us, it has no idea what is going to happen. There is no possible way that our mind can predict what will happen in our future.

But how do we quiet that inner mind? How do we develop the feeling of peace and the knowledge that we are safe? Below is one way of working to achieve this inner peace. It is a simple but effective method.  In future news articles we will discuss other methods.  We will talk about our daily practice of these methods and how they can help us to achieve inner peace and calmness, regardless of what is going on in our day to day lives.

Breathing

Breathing, yes breathing can be a very effective way of calming our inner voice. It can help us to achieve inner peace and it is something that can be done no matter where you are. This portability and availability makes it one of the most potent methods of calming ourselves.

When you notice stress and panic coming on simply stop where you are and sit down. Close your eyes lightly and take a deep breath. Hold it while you count to five and release it all at once through your mouth. You will notice that some of the stress will leave out with the sudden exhalation of the breath.

Next I want you to inhale slowly and count to five while you are doing so. When you get to five, stop your breath for a second then slowly exhale to the count of five as well. Once you have exhaled stop your breath for a second and then repeat.

While you are doing this I want you to monitor your thoughts, don’t try to stop them, just notice them. Now in the most polite way you can, simply tell these thoughts to come back later. Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend if you were consoling them.  Just be polite with yourself and don’t worry about these thoughts. Now is not the time to think about things, now is the time for you to concentrate on your breathing as we breathe in and out slowly to the count of five.

Continue with the breathing and continue to dismiss your thoughts as long as you need to until your stress level is relieved. Don’t worry about doing this exercise correctly, there is no right or wrong, there is simply the breath and the quietness of your mind.

As you do this simple meditation thoughts will crop up from time to time, don’t worry about them simply dismiss them and breathe.

I have found that doing this exercise at times of high stress and at regular intervals in the morning and evening for even a few minutes’ helps to reduce the stress we feel. If you practice this exercise for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening you will find that the inner voice in your head will quiet down. After you have put it aside it will not have as much power over you and you will develop inner peace.

Most important is to practice being nice to yourself in your day to day life. You will make mistakes, we all do. But when you do don’t get frustrated just calm yourself with the breathing exercise and let the feelings and frustrations wash over you like the current in a river.

We will talk about other methods in future issues of Inner Peace. Please fave this article and feel free to share this information with your friends and family!

Helping Children With KickStarter

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 22, 2014, 7:00 AM
A friend of mine told me about a new Kickstarter project to buy drumsticks and hopefully drums for an Elementary School in North Carolina. I thought that finally this is a worthy use of Kickstarter. I watched the video and read the project goals then promptly donated to the cause. This is a low cost project and it will help you to feel a great sense of accomplishment.

The official goal for the project was fifty dollars!  That's correct only 50 dollars, yet it is an amount that can help children to learn the basics of music and rhythm. So the project met the goal but they would  like to get more money to purchase actual drums if possible. As a drummer I know well the cost of even used drumming equipment. So if you have a dollar or two, or ten then please go to the following link and donate to a worthy cause.

My Deviant Art Story

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 7, 2014, 6:30 AM
Well let's review my DA story. First set the way back machine to 8 years ago. I was working at my job, IT at the time and had a lot of spare time to wander about on the internet. I stumbled across DA which was listed as an art site mostly for those making skins for various MP3 player software and other types of programs.  Though it was listed as such it also had a following of photographers and others who were posting their works onto the site. I had been taking Photos since I was seven years of age and decided that it would be a wonderful place to put my works.

Over the ensuing years I have managed to post a lot of works of various types, some photos some drawings. I have also posted stamps and may other types of works to my page. I think that it is important to have a place to post ones works where you can expect some decent critiques and some occasional love as well.

In the past 8 years I have seen a lot of changes in the way the site operates. Some of them have been good and some have been just plain different. But the one thing that has remained the same is the quality of wonderful people who inhabit this site. I have met thousands of people from all over the world and have watched as my DA friends have grown both in their talents and in their lives.  I have seen people I know on this site meet in real life and get married, and sadly I have had some friends of mine on here who have passed away. Life is not always easy but with the quality of friends I meet here it is much easier than it could be.

Deviant Art offers people a place to be themselves and the opportunity to be expressive without the road blocks that would normally be placed in ones path of development. It is like a convention that runs year round and feeds the soul with inspiration. It has become the one place I stop at during my daily tour of life. As with many of my friends on this site I have grown and changed over the years. I have been an administrator to several groups. I have ran chat rooms here and worked with various causes on the site. I have donated countless subscriptions to many people, not for any material gain, but rather because I wanted to.

On this anniversary of DA's start I would join in my fellow Deviants to say welcome to any newcomers and thank you to the many who have followed my page through the years.

Thanks to you my friends!

Summer Sun and Fun on the Drums

Journal Entry: Thu May 29, 2014, 1:26 PM
Well it is a lovely Thursday here in good old Iowa! The sun is out and the temps are up in the high 80's so it is wonderful outside. Me I am working indoors as always, but I will be outside later on this afternoon to enjoy what is left of the daylight.  The sun has been staying out until around 8:30 or so at night and it gets up before I do at 5:30 in the morning, so lots of sun for me!

Lets see, I have been drawing, working on my designs and some actual drawings in Illustrator for a change. It is fun to get back into things that have been set aside for the time being. I am also working on some new projects for work as well. Mostly IT stuff but it is fun for me anyways. I have been invited to attend a free baseball game in the boxes by one of the local radio stations. It should be fun and free food and beer for all who show up.  Now just to act civilized when I am in attendance!

TV shows... lets see I haven't watched any in over a month, so nothing there.. :D I am looking forward to some of the newer movies that are showing up soon to a theater near me. I don't know if any of you attend the theater so I won't bore you with show names. :D

Other than these things just biking and playing the drums as usual. I have been working on some of the finer pieces created by Megadeath and Judas Priest as well as several other metal selections. The drum patterns are complex and a bit tiring after a couple of hours but I am getting them together slowly but surely.

I hope all of you are well and I look forward to chatting with more of you online as the summer progresses!  Have a lovely weekend!

Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Fri May 16, 2014, 8:26 AM
We are having the first sunshine that we have had in a week today!  Unfortunately I am stuck indoors all day long.... Well that is how it goes sometimes. Lets see, I have been working in Illustrator a lot this week and I am also starting a new practice session for my drumming that involves a lot of stretching and more bass pedal work. It is tiring but fun at the same time.

I hope that all of you are well!  I have been building and fixing servers all of this week and I am sort of getting burnt out a bit on them for a couple of days! I bought a mac mini to play with and so far it is pretty good. I am not sure why people say that they don't lock up mine has locked up at least twenty times and it is only a few days old! Oh well, my older iPad locks up all the time as well. I think that apple has just built up their reputation a little too much. Still it seems like a solid machine. I am going to add the boot camp feature to include Windows 8 on the machine as well. That way I can handle work and home projects on it as well. I bought it mainly to post books to iBooks and to publish games onto the App store market. I installed a free copy of office for Mac that I had laying about in my swag drawer and it works the same as it does on my windows machines. Not quite as many bells and whistles but the basics are all there and it works well.

Other than that I am just working as usual. I hope you are all doing well. Be sure and chat back on this posting and share the love!

Centered

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 9, 2014, 12:17 PM
Looking outside of my twin windows from a height of only 5'10" can give one a strange perspective on life. Things will go by fast sometimes and it is difficult to make sense of what goes on all the time. A person can only take in so much data before the mind throttles down the comprehsnsion, feelings build up, panic starts in some cases. Still, if you can manage to tame the beast that is inside of your head, then calmness will prevail.  Calmness that gives clarity to what one is looking at. Calmness that slows down ones life and allows the chance to observe something as simple as a water drop or as complex as another being.

Taking time to gain this calmness can occur in as little as five minutes per day. This tiny slice of time is easy to work into your schedule if you make a note to do so. Better yet this time can be taken no matter where you are as you already have your mind with you everywhere that you go.

Simply sit down in a comfortable position, Take a breath in and count to five, hold it a second, then exhale counting to five in your mind. repeat this process counting up from one after each breath. IF a thought starts in your head simply start counting again and pay the thought no mind. Do this for five minutes per day, then after a few days find ten minutes to donate to this process. You can keep it at as little as ten minutes or go for longer periods of time it is up to you. This is all you have to do and soon you will find yourself to be more calm, more comfortable in difficult situations and more Centered.

Sunday Sunday Sunday!!

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 2, 2014, 7:17 AM
Well it is Sunday and I celebrated the day by playing my OUYA game machine. I really like the OUYA, first of all it is only 100 dollars for the machine with controller and there are a ton of free games that are good quality games on the machine. Most of them do not have in game purchases which is nice. I have a few paid games on it as well, most are $5.00 or so but all are really fun and of great quality. I think this machine has given the private developer a place to show off and even sell their games. I have most of the new and all of the old systems here at home and I choose to play this one over all of them so far.

We had a blizzard last night so I stayed home and worked on building a linux system. I like playing with the various linux OS's that are out. They are always changing and have a ton of options to play with. Today the sun is out so I will venture forth and enjoy it some. I am still editing my book and working on my drumming as well as making new geometric designs. All this and work is keeping me busy to say the least. Thanks to all who fave my works and who visit my page here on DA, I love you all!

Things

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 21, 2014, 10:19 AM
There are things in this life that amaze me and things in this life that depress me. Mostly I try to concentrate on the things that are in the middle. Things that are pleasant but not overly stimulating. However beauty is one of these things that I do think about quite a bit even though they are exciting and depressing all at the same time. I think as a male in this modern world I am awed by beauty, but often it is depressing as I realize that I am not truly in the beautiful category myself.

But after that brief let down I think about what beauty truly is. It is not really perfect symmetry as some have wanted us to believe. Rather it is something that is found in the soul, not on the outside. It is a concept that has slipped past us in this modern age. To define beauty as something that is skin deep is in fact quite a shallow thing to do. Beauty is a concept that includes the whole person, the personality and kindness that a person exhibits to the world. But it also encompasses that part of a person that is kept from the world, that part that is shared willingly with someone a person loves. This private part of a person is the true beauty and worth of a person. It is said that beauty fades, but to me that is just not true. True beauty will continue to shine even after a person passes from this world and their energy joins with the energy of the universe to shine on until the end of time.

Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Thu Feb 13, 2014, 8:44 AM
Well today brings warmer weather here. We are watching some of the snow turn to shush. This process makes things messy but interesting to drive in. Let's see I have been working on more vectors and made a sign to break the streak of geometric designs I have been on lately. I find working in vectors to be more fun than traditional works for me, but I still miss taking photos. Well maybe this spring I will get back into it again. I am still drumming and writing on my 5th novel.

I am still prepping for Gencon this fall and am getting some custom shirts made for the event. If you are attending let me know and we can meet up at a restaurant or bar to discuss things in general.

Other than that I have been alpha and beta testing six upcoming games. They are all fun in there own ways and it will be interesting to see how the general public takes on these games as they are released. Sadly that is all I am allowed to discuss about them as I had to sign non-disclosure statements. Enjoy the Snow if you have it where you are, spring is coming soon!!
