I see crimson. I see red...

From a scene in the irish epic Táin Bó Cúailnge. The prophetess Fedelm speaks with queen Medb.
Medb doesn't look amused...
It was going to be just a quick sketch in a boring day but I just beagan to add more and more details...

For what started out as a sketch, this turned out incredibly brillaint and finely detailed.

Their hair and skirts flow with the breeze nicely, and their expressions are so well done; I especially like the Queen's unimpressed glare. The only thing which I think feels a bit like it doesn't fit are the swords - mostly because they lack shine; because the hair is so glossy and their jewelry is also shiny, it just feels like the swords have been neglected a little. But it's still an excellent drawing either way.

Another excellent feature is the folds in the clothes; combined with the shading you've used it adds realism to the drawing. The details of their jewlery and armour (such as the Queen's shield) add a cultural feel to the image, which helps to define the scene you have described in your author's comment.

I would have liked to have seen a little bit of detail in the hills to make the image feel even more complete, but you've done such a great job with the characters that it's still a very beuatiful piece anyway.

Would you feel comfortable submitting this image into the Battle Ready Womyn group? [link] Were a group dedicated to realistic/semi-realistic armoured women warriors and feel this artwork fits group qualifications. Hope you chose to contribute! (This would be best submitted into the Metal Ages folder).

Hahah- Medb looks like my sister in this drawing! XD She's just missing a few freckles and that would be her!
