Chronoverse: Rough, but not too rough

Description

One of DC's most famous and beloved characters, although the mere fact of being an enemy of Superman implies that he must be absurdly strong to compete with the Man of Tomorrow, there have been moments throughout comics history where this character's power simply borders on the absurd.

Starting with the fact that Lobo was able to tear out Darkseid's eyes, something that not even Superman or Wonder Woman could do, it's also said that he killed the New Gods, or that he was capable of carrying out a massacre in the Fifth Dimension, you know, that place where characters can alter reality as if it were a game.

In addition, and as we all know, Lobo is practically immortal because Heaven doesn't want him and he's apparently too unbridled to have in Hell. They even had to send Trigon, a demon capable of fighting Mr. Mxyzptlk, just to stop Lobo.

And all this power is truly unjustified. Most DC heroes are strong because they have some source of power that makes them that way. Superman and Martian Manhunter are part of extremely strong races with very useful abilities that, in Superman's case, keep his strength constantly growing. Wonder Woman is a demigoddess, Green Lantern is connected to the emotional spectrum, Flash is connected to the Speedforce, Shazam has the power of several gods, etc. But the Czarcians were never shown to be a powerful race; they just had the advantage of being just able to kill by other member of their race, but that's about it.

And while I know it possibly has to do with the tone of the character's stories, the problem is that it clashes with those outside of his own stories, making any situation involving Lobo completely meaningless. That's not positive for a story that wants to take itself seriously.

So I'll leave Lobo as a character who could give Superman and other very strong heroes a hard time, but he won't be able to kill gods, demons, or abstract entities just because yes. He's more similar to what we see in animated adaptations like JL Unlimited, Superman: Man of Tomorrow, or Young Justice.

I don't know if anyone agrees with my opinion, but if not, feel free to comment.

This is something I can get behind, although that's partially because I was never a big Lobo fan to begin with. He feels like he was created to be more of the Deadpool of DC, that oddball unrestrained by the same rules (and power scaling) of the setting just because.
