Chronoverse: Joke is over

Let's face it, we know that the Joker character is only still alive in the comics because he's one of the most popular characters, but even if he's crazy he would have gotten the death penalty a long time ago and one of the things I get most fed up with in Batman is the point of even ridicule he goes to protect the Joker, so it's just better that there isn't a Joker.... At least for a while, and leave room for Batman's other villains.
