ANTI – HITLER poem from 1934
Freund Adolf Hitler,
Sei unser Gast,
Und gib uns die Hälfte,
Was Du versprochen hast.
Göring nahm uns das Schmalz,
Franz Papen unser Salz
Und Du mit lachender Miene,
Noch das bischen Margarine.
Der Führer ohne Frau,
Der Metzger ohne Sau,
Der Bäcker ohne Teig,
Das ist Dein drittes Reich.
Aber Feste feiern, Lieder leiern,
Nonnen entschleiern,
Männer enteiern,
Das nennst Du Deutschland erneuern.
Komm zurück Hindenburg,
Du grosser Streiter,
Dein berühmter Gefreiter,
Weiss nicht mehr weiter.
Die Strassen immer glätter,
Die Ranzen immer fetter,
Die Arbeiter immer dünner,
Das danken wir Dir, dem FÜHRER !!!
The poem was made in Berlin by a (non-native) student in the years of 1934-35.
He typed it on a little piece of paper, and gave (one or more copy) to his fellows. So it was secretly circulated, and read by a hundred
of joung people. Original text: viertes Reich. This maybe a joke, or – as I think – at that time the phrase drittes Reich was not yet so much fixed, as it became later. And German people did not know exactly which Reich is theirs in he series of Empires, the third or the fourth.
