Holy Frijoles it's been a long time since I've written anything!!
Thanks. I just had to get that off my chest.
So anyway, the Empyrean Command. Those of you who've read past entries have a pretty good idea what it's all about and those of you who've watched my page evolve have either witnessed or aided its evolution. Now it's kind of evolved out of my hands and that has not been without growing pains. Earlier this year, I did a bunch of art which was colored and had graphics added by trumpeting that 2018 was the year to "Take Command". Only shortly thereafter the whole project began to fall apart.
There's an old saying: Too many cooks spoil the broth.
That kind of applies to what happened with the EC team. We tried to write the first issue of the comic as a group writing exercise and as it turns out... several of us have very different story telling styles. A first issue AND a second issue got written...or at least plotted, but the experience was probably not as satisfying as anyone had hoped. Needless to say, that story has been laying fallow and neglected for months.
In the meantime several of us have been involved with other things. has been fleshing out his comic universe. , along with and have their characters featured in upcoming books, which is awesome. got engaged, which is incredibly awesome and I kind of puttered about dabbling with a few things, but the whole Empyrean Command thing was nagging at me. Not wanting to fail to deliver on the promise of an issue, but also not wanting to just steamroll my collaborative partners, I decided I would try to repackage and publish some stuff that had already been done. So, with the permission of all the creators involved and with the assistance of a dynamic team of talented people, some very amateur stuff is now being re-done up to a professional level. There will indeed be an Empyrean Command comic out this year. The creative team is as follows:
Plots & Pencils
Script, Letters & Graphic Design
& Inks/Finishing Art
Characters used with consent, by , , , , , , , , , , and me.
There might even be some surprise splash page/promo art included.
It's still about four months until it will be available, if everything proceeds as planned. Still, I'm feeling considerably less aimless now that it looks like I'll be able to salvage my promise. Fingers crossed.
Now you all know as much as I do. Thanks for reading.
