As the Yuletide passes we find ourselves revelling in the calm that the cold months bring. With the smell of fire in the air and cold winds bringing red to our cheeks, how can we help but feel calm and healthy? But not everyone enjoys the cold as much as we do, the cold scares us back into our homes where we long to sleep till spring like our animal brethren.
January, named after the Roman god Janus is the beginning, depending on your calendar it might be the first month. It is the time when endings turn into beginnings, a blank slate, a new page to start the next volume of our lives. Knowing this, it seems only logical to clean your house and mind, to ready yourself for all the next year will bring.
Today was Friday the 13th, the anniversary of our first ever done ritual. How many years has it been since then?
And now, the year still young we steady ourselves for Imbolc, which will be the true beginning, the time where we welcome back the light into our hearts and hearths.
May the New Year bring you all you wish for my friends, and may you find solace in the cool embrace of winter as it slowly turns to face the sun again.
