Greetings everyone.

I've decided (actually I decided a few weeks ago) to go on a trip to Europe, and some other places yet to be decided, by myself. I am likely to leave at the end of next month.

At this stage, it is likely that I will go to Switzerland for a month or so, and will then travel backpacker style to Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Poland and some other places perhaps.

I am wide open to suggestions - What places to you think I should visit? I'm up for suggestions anywhere in the world, not just Europe.... perhaps I could visit YOU! :-)

Take Care everyone.

Oh that is such a cool idea. I think you could go to Pompeii, the ancient city in Rome, or go to a pyramid in Egypt.

Either way, Brissie is also a good choice

Backpacker style will be so much fun

Backpacking :boogie:

Brissie, if I get a round-the-world ticket will be my last stop before I get home..... by that stage I will probably be very broke and have no money to spend.... you'd have to pay for my meals :D

This is the best news I can have from you Peter!!!

The destination doesn't really matter... Africa...or other continent...Just enjoy every bit of your journey.

Different air, unfamiliar alley or shores... just make yourself happy. I know you'll share with us the wonders you'll see. ;-)

I hope to do the same this May, with my children. I won't be going too far but it will be a good change for them and a much needed boost for my spirit.

And if you still remember... there is an invitation for you to visit the Philippines. The time is not right, I have to tell you this, because of the coming election and this country is very much in turmoil during those periods. But my invitation stands Peter. You know it. Just wanted to remind you that you have a place for you in the Philippines.

  and more  ;-)

I must say, I would love to visit you in the Philippines  Truth be told, I could probably only stay for 3 or 5 days. Plus I would probably use that time to unwind by simply sitting at your place enjoying a nice beer and getting to know your kids :-)

It’s a shame about the turmoil, though that sort of thing probably would not stop me :-)

If the offer is indeed open, I will certainly consider it, though I can’t guarantee that I will be able to make it.

Thank you

go to italy...and take pictures for me, and bring me italian souvenirs when you visit QLD on your way home :P

:cries: you'd better still stay constant with DA, otherwise i'll miss you terribly

I'll try my hardest to keep semi-active on DA during the trip.

If I use a round-the-world ticket, I will probably be coming through Brisbane or Sydney on my way back to Perth. We'll have to see what the flights are like..... I may have a small souvenir for you :-)

I am so glad to read this! It doesn't matter at all where you go, the experience is going to make all the difference. Truly, Peter, I am very excited and relieved to read this. So glad you decided to do this.

When I still lived in Europe I loved to visit Greece. But only in the off-season. I took a wonderful trip through the whole island of Crete on a motorcycle. One of my favorite ventures. Oh so many beautiful places to go...

And of course, Canada is gorgeous, too. And it is rather unlikely that you will be in this area, but you have a place to stay here. And I mean it. It feels like I 'know' enough of you to say this with confidece.

I have a question (though I don’t really expect you to answer it) - What are the chances that I might be able to find some temporary work where you live? I'm 24, speak English and German and am a hard worker :-)

Any ideas at all?

Cheers

Peter, I'll write you a note this weekend when I have more time, OK?

Please do - I have no idea where abouts in Canada you live, but I'm happy to try and squeeze you in there somewhere :-)

Take Care

I have no solid plans about where I will end up. All I know is that I will be spending the bulk of my time in Europe.

I will be using an 'Round-the-World' airline ticket, so there is actually no reason why I wouldn’t come to Canada. It's been one of my top destinations for years.

That being said, unless I manage to pick up some work in Europe, my finances are likely to be close to nil by the time I reach Canada. - As such, if I did make it to your place (which I'd love to do btw :-) ) I would probably just sit around your place with you and enjoy a beer or two... things that don’t cost too much money :-)

Thank you very much for the invitation. It means a lot to me, and will certainly be considered. Who knows where the road will lead me.

Take Care

That sounds fantastic. I think doing this alone will change who you are and what you see yourself doing in life. The experience would be amazing. If you do go on the trip then you should upload 1 photo from every city you visit and show everyone where you have been :) I'm sure you'd make an amazing gallery.
aussiepoida's avatar
I certainly hope it will change me a little :-) Actually, I don’t really feel like I need to change, but I do need to 'untangle' myself.

I'd love to upload a photo from each city - that’s a plan that I've thought about since the start. It is certainly something I will be doing if I can.

Cheers mate

Poland would be a great place to visit (the other places sound good too). Your new 1GB card will definately come in handy for this trip :D
aussiepoida's avatar
It sure will :D I suppose the trip formed part of the reason why I bought it.

During my last trip I only had a 2MP camera and I barely got by - Needless to say I need extra storage with 5MPs.

Cheers

Peter
