The Old Man's Hammer
In an old man’s shed His tools lie around Rusty screwdrivers A broken garden trowel Worn edges, wood splintered They bear the years of hard work Cobwebs up in the ceiling Spiders watch and lurk On the cluttered centre bench A trusty tool can be seen A hammer, old, yet hardy Could tell stories of where it’s been The day the old man’s wife Hung their wedding photo The loose nail in Billy’s cot The things that hammer knows He had hammered in the nails Of coffins several times The old man’s life and his Had become intertwined He waited on the table Patient as he always was But never would the old man return He

I want to know everything, to ask you what is up. I wonder if you love me, or if you ever did. My heart has been broken, to you I should be rid. But still there’s an odd pull that tells me to stick around It makes no sense. Illogical. We have no common ground. To think I thought one day you’d be at the end of my aisle. To get get over you is taking time. It’s taking a long while. So now I lay in bed thinking, writing, reflecting. Fiddling with my fing

Late Night Loneliness
Late night loneliness In bed, staring at my phone Thinking of the day that’s passed How I’ll forever be alone Hoping that I’m somehow wrong That someday a man will share my home That we will go on dates, have much fun Share chocolate ice cream cones But those days seem so far away A good man is hard to find But when he finally shows up I will quickly call him mine I wonder where he’s hiding now Am I far behind? Or is he close, within reach? Am I close to the finish line? Or do I already know the one Have I met him unaware? Have I disregarded him for now? Is he tall, short, dark or fair? I suppose one day I’l

Hey all, Thanks for the amazing support that you have given me with your +fav's and comments. I appreciate it. Since its the school holidays for me now I may do poetry requests on topics. I generally do 4-6 verses, but sometimes varies depending on my level of inspiration. Once again THANKS. -Megan
