PERFECTLY PACKAGED FANTASY: Short Story Contest
PERFECTLY PACKAGED FANTASY: Short Story Contest
LITplease is at it again!
The genre of fantasy is a popular one--in fact, it's so popular that, along with science fiction, it was voted in LITplease:'s recent polls as our members' favorite genre to both READ and WRITE!
So, we thought it was time we brought you a FANTASY WRITING CONTEST!
There's only one problem--fantasy generally involves huge settings with a plethora of characters and stories that span years or even decades. That's great when you're picking up a new volume at the bookstore but not so great when you're a poor volunteer deviant trying to judge a contest. We don't have that kind of time!
So, for this contest you're being asked to write a short story of no more than 3000 words that centers around one major event in the main characters life. We as judges want to get the sense that this is just one point in time in that characters vast life, wh

Stamps are Art
I have seen very often the argument that Stamps are not art, especially on stamps that get a Daily Deviation. People say that they shouldn't even get a DD at all. They aren't art! They're just stamps.
Think about this: A Photographer, when taking a photo, considers lighting, position of objects, angles, perspective, what else is around, the whole area, may just snap the picture, or maybe put lots of planning into it. An Artist must consider use of color, what to draw, how to draw it, lighting, shading, brush use, composition, pose, effects, whatever it takes to make an effective drawing. A Writer must consider their words, story pace, descriptions of characters and the places in which they go, speech and interaction between characters, to make an effective story.
But what about Stamp Makers?
When making a stamp, one must consider the color. You wouldn't use a bright color on a sad stamp, would you? They must consider, if including a picture, how to crop the picture, scale it so it fits

Recaman Sequence
10 pm. Maybe I should be preparing for sleep already? No, I want a snack. And while I eat, I'll watch something on YouTube. That "something" happened to be Numberfile video about Recamán number sequence (youtu.be/FGC5TdIiT9U). Of course, I had to make visualization. But I messed it up twice and finished only at midnight. Still worth it, I love the result :)

"Maro diena" by Andrius Tapinas - "The Day of the Plague".
"Juoda moteris, balta šalis" by Waris Dirie - actual title of the book is "Desert Dawn", but Lithuanian title means "Black Woman, White Country".
