Twilight Sparkle sighed, adjusting her diamond-studded glasses. The view out here was incredible - misty valleys stretching into the horizon, snowy mountains reaching up to the clouds, snaking rivers sparkling in the distance. The sun was just setting, engulfing everything in a peaceful light.
But Twilight couldn't enjoy it.
Ever since she had parted ways with her friends at graduation, something had been gnawing on the inside of her stomach. It was the same thought that had crossed her mind thousands of times in the past decade.
Why did she let them go?
They had been her best friends at Canterlot High. Truth be told, they were her only friends.
But now she had none. She was alone in her mansion.
From time to time, in her new life, Twilight would ask herself why she chose this. This was one of those times. She pondered as hard as she could about why she chose science and money over friendship and happiness. Try as she might, she couldn't decipher her past self's reasons.
