iOS 7 Style VLC Theme! [Discontinued] by Atopsy iOS 7 Style VLC Theme! [Discontinued] by Atopsy
**Important announcement:

This VLC Theme is discontinued but you can still download it. Please note that I did not finish this theme completely, some retina icons and buttons are still unchanged and I will not complete it either.

Reason being I'm working on a theme to fit with OS X Yosemite, this theme will take me more than to make than this one did.
_________________________________________

Here it is! The early testing version of my VLC theme.

The reason I want to publish it before I complete it, is because I do not know how this will work or look on retina Mac's. I'm also curious if there will be any glitches/problems/missing stuff etc etc!

Feel free to download it and try it out! Please give me any feedback, bad or positive, does not matter!

Remember this is a early version of the theme. UI elements may be changed and missing changes will come.

*Updates will come frequently!

Next update will feature:

VLC Sidebar icons.

The last set of buttons.

Black icons (Optional)

**NOTE: The icons used in this theme are from icons8.com/preview/ios-7-icons… and I have permission. If you claim somebody else owns them on Deviant, they don't.

**IMPORTANT: Since I do not know how installing this will be with other Mac's I advice you to backup VLC just incase. If you forget to backup you can just re-download VLC.

You also do not need to enter "Dark" mode to use this. This theme is based off the original theme files.

*Install instructions:

1. Download the file & unzip it.

2. Drag Resources in-to the folder I called "Drag & Drop Here" PS. This will only work if you have VLC installed at it's normal installation location Applications. If this does not work, skip this and keep following the steps.

4. Replace everything.

3. Quit VLC and launch it again.

*If Drag & Drop did not work:

1. Go to where you installed VLC

2. Right click VLC and click "Show Package Contents"

3. Go into "Contents" and drag the new Resources folder that included in the file into there and click replace.

4. Restart VLC

5. Enjoy!

I just wanted to ask how far you got with your Yosemite theme, can´t await seeing something that would fit better into Yosemite than this odd grey menu from the original vlc !!!

Well I haven't really worked that much on it since Yosemite was released. I sort of put it on "hold" considering I have been hard at work improving my movie editing skills through school and such.

I will start working on it again soon, (I hope). If not, I will release the unfinished version. But I'm surprised how little themes has been released that will suit Yosemite. But I will look into to it and see how far I got.

Really cool! It doesn't work for me in Dark Mode thought which is a shame because I can't stand that grey bar (I can't wait for Yosemite!)

Hmm, well it's not impossible to convert it to the dark mode version, I could do that for you if you want it?

Yes this is only for OS X.

It's also no point in trying to convert it to work with Windows, I'd have to start from scratch.

How did you build the theme?

If you know Photoshop well enough and are familiar with how .icns system files work, it's not that hard. But it takes some time and it's really confusing.

Sure, I can make a blog post with written instructions along side picture instructions as well.

I will message you when it's done.

i downloaded some of your stuff and looked at the resources folder- seems kinda complex, but i think i can understand it using ur guide

Yes it is kinda complex.

But it gets complicated when you have to change both retina icons that are labeled with 2x and normal icons for none-retina screens. If you use the same icon for both the original icon and retina icon you will get scaling issues or that the icon will simply not fit.

Do you have a retina Mac or a none-retina? Because knowing that will make the instructions less complicated and confusing.
