I'm debating whether to just close down my western division and relocate my horses.:/

I never seem to see any western shows that allow fantasy horses, but I'd like to be able to compete them.
If you know of some people who regularly (or semi-regularly) host western classes(like barrels, reining, cattle penning) comment?
I may just not be watching the right people.

I'm hoping to add Western to the show circuit soon but it doesn't solve your HARPG show problem :/ There are a lot less shows nowadays than there used to be, too.

YeH, it doesn't, but that's ok. :) It's not that there's less shows, there's just less quality shows that are varied. Dressage gets so boring. Even larger shoes are disappointing. I was thinking of entering the aus-Olympics but the quality of the entries I've seen this year are just disappointing so I don't even want to enter any more.

we'll see what happens. I'm an infrequent show enter-we anyway.

I've been struggling to find shows at all, but yeah when you do find a show it's hard to find a good quality one or one that fits your requirements, or one that isn't just another dressage show.

I'd enter AUSe but there are restrictions on the horses that can I enter I think, that and I just.... fell out of love with most HARPG shows. I mostly just enter the quirky ones now :P

Looks like you did it anyway. ;) Best of luck!!

If you have riders that aren't adults, you could enter them in the Children's Class  that runs in :iconrrs-rarerollingshows:

Campdrafing is held under Cattle Classes and would be great for adult riders, Cowboy Shooting under War Horse Classes would be another fun western event!

Oh, and Working Equestrian under Miscellaneous Classes

Are there deadlines for those shows? Thanks for the links!

They're open for 3 months at a time, you can see which ones are currently open on the top-right of the home page RRS-RareRollingShows

Oh, I forgot about this one too! Western Side Saddle

There are various shows going on often, but the ones I see are either only within a group (and that's usually realistic breeds only) or spammy mini shows, it is indeed rare to find one that permits fantasy horses and is worth the time :/ MistyofSunrise hosts nice shows for that, SVI Schooling Show - Nov. JUDGED : Dec. OPEN for example, though shows like that often combine western classes into one division which some people don't like. I'd be willing to host classes on request now and then, though I wouldn't be able to offer prizes for it, but could always be a potential source of story and experience for my own characters as well. Heh, even with my own real-breed horses there are so few western shows out there that actually look fun to enter, I've contemplated just switching to my own story shows for mine, not like I really do stuff in western groups anymore so it's no loss to me if those images don't "count" as show entries

That's just it. It's so hard to find actual shows I can put my stock built spirit horses into, or my snjorrirs. I want them to be western, to have more western options in those breeds. I don't mind doing training images and the like for it, but it'd be nice to have some decent, open shows with divisions to enter now and again. I'd rather have the classes separated, in my mind it's easier to judge things that way then a whole discipline in a lump.(because really when you think about it, you wouldn't host a class just called 'english' because the discipline is so varied. Western is the same way.) I know @timberlakelane-EC hosts some on occasion but he's about all I know for open discipline and I can't remember atm if it's for all breeds or not. I wouldn't ask you to host though, you have your New Years resolution.:p I may try hosting one myself later this year and see what comes of it, but interest in anything I host is practically nil now it requires a lot of 'is it really worth it' thought.

My new year's resolution only applies to promising prizes and the like, hosting a show takes about ten minutes and if I don't promise prizes, I can expect like two entries tops so then it's not difficult to judge either :P I could be interested in seeing you host something, my show entering is extremely dependent on mood and time but doesn't hurt to have options :giggle:

I completely understand that, I'm the same way. I've started so many show entries only to have them just... fall by the wayside. Which is another reason why I couldn't ask you to host one, just for me to not enter because of school or energy etc.

I may. I've been thinking about it for awhile, just to see one last time if it'll be worth hosting a show.
