i respect your beliefs, but, as you found it neccisary to speak your mind here, i am free, to speak my mind here right, i am not trying to toi cause drama, or to convert you but start an intellectual conversation, as i believe the best way to reflect on ones own beliefs is to speak with someone who doesnt agree with you, you could call me a very untraditional christian. i believe in christ, yet i rarely pray. i believe he died for our sins, yet i dont wake up on sunday. because i believe that god doesnt want us to live in fear of him, that we are meant to live free and that he allows us to make our own fate. i also believe that some religious people are zealous, and over fanatical. and i know i might be wrong, that islam might be the answer, that buddhism might be the answer that atheism might be the answer, but i shall believe what i believe.
in short i do think free, and i am free to believe, just as you are.

Just what is thinking free?
YumeSupernova Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2010  Hobbyist General Artist
To put it simply, free thinking is sticking to what you believe no matter what bullcrap other people, religion, etc. throw your way.

So technically this stamp doesn't have to just be able being an atheist?
I totally didn't take it that way when I first saw it.
I support the sentiment.

Yup. That's how I see it, anyway. Some people consider it to be an atheist thing, but I'm not an atheist and consider myself a free thinker.

A free thinker thinks! Religious people belief! Huge difference!
I don't wanna insult you but explain to me please how you can be free if you simply copy the belief of others?!
If you're truly free & still believe in supernatural things that weren't (so far) proven by science, I'm ok with that.
Cause then you are spiritual, not religious!
Being spiritual is being open-minded to possibilities that (maybe) no-one else believes in.
Being religious is the lazy, fake version of spirituality, where you simply copy&paste the beliefs of others into your brain!………

No, your statement isn't insulting - I actually agree with it completely.  Though I never said I was religious (because I'm not - I am, as you said, spiritual).

So, I guess I should have said in my original comment that free thinking is about thinking about things (what you've been taught, life experiences, etc.), formulating your own beliefs based on those things, and sticking to them no matter what outside influences try to sway you (other people, religion, etc.).

Cool! Really a great relief and joy to find someone who is able to argue on a higher niveau than most ppl in the worldwide interwebs!I am a dummy! :happybounce:
Sorry that I automatically assumed that you are religious! That's because most ppl who argue against me about atheism (in anonymity) are religious fundamentalist cowards!
I hope you understand my reaction!

Fyi: I consider myself an Atheist, a spiritual agnostic Atheist to be exact!
That's in no way a contradiction: I'm not arrogant enough to claim the ultimate truth for me, I'm not all-knowing.
Therefore I am   spiritual (open for unproofen new things),  agnostic (once I see evidence I believe it),  Atheist (haven't seen real evidence for "god" or any religious figures, so I doubt there existence).

I'm happy that this world, with all that lives in it, is "colourful"; that there are different POVs. E.g.  I love Reggae w/out believing in Jah.
I never had a problem with ppl who believed in (from my POV) BS - AS LONG as they are able to explain it!
I simply have a problem with ignorant, lazy people in general, who (sadly) are also often in religious groups!

Or to say it with Richard Dawkins: "I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world."

Thank you for trying to understand me and actually argue with me instead of simply bein a prick about it like most ppl would!Hug

It's a great sentiment isn't it? Thanks for adding it to your journal.

Tell me about it, I don't want anyone telling me how to think. It's too Big Brother you know? I like to be able to choose what I believe in, you dig? You can't force anyone to believe cause it's not actual belief, unfortunately I've met christians who act that way when (I know this is'nt a religious club but Bible evidence is supporting my claim) God made us to have the choice to believe in him or not instead of imposing or forcing his will, it's a person's choice.
