Description


These peculiar creatures live among cliffs near oceans, they are capable of breathing both on land and in water. They feed on algae, barnacles and small crustaceans, but will also sometimes scavange on dead animals.
Yuryus cannot die of age, as their cells continuously multiply and make them grow bigger over time, but they are still vulnerable to predators, disease and potential injuries. Young yuryus are the main food source for many other creatures, and only about 2% of them make it to adulthood.
Yuryus live in large colonies led by the eldest female. These females are called queens and some of them have reached a wingspan of over 16 meters.
When food become scarce the yuryus will migrate to a new area. Their long wings allow them to soar for days on end across oceans to look for a suitable home.
Because yuryus prefer to travel in foggy or cloudy weather, they can be hard to spot.
