He’s mostly upset because he thought the light would lead to a way out of the cave, but now he’s even more lost.
He’s likely thinking he’s gonna be stuck in there forever.
Feroxes are actually pretty good swimmers, despite not being specifically adapted for it. They mainly use their tails to swim, similar to crocodiles, and they have enough lung-capacity to stay under for 3-4 minutes, sometimes more.
Since they evolved to run, they have a very efficent respiratory system and powerful lungs.
