Yeah, I still hate what happened to the characters (and I still love poor sweet Myxir) established in the first to games, but Vatras has got the worst of it appearance-wise (See panel 1. Thank Google for the Michael Jackson reference pose.)
I mean, he had dark skin in Gothic 2, and he's white in Gothic 3? How could that have happened? I'd call it lack of interest on the developer's part were it any other developer than Piranha Bytes.
Anyway, watermages in G3... They're what now? Spiritual leaders of the desert people?
Yes, they are! Which is why we never again hear from their shadow army, aka the Ring of Water, since they don't need it anymore. It's never even mentioned again. Must have been a dream then... which still does not explain why Lares is back to being a thief and how he acquired a new hairstyle, complete with face a lifting. Oh and he now has the same voice actor as Lester... I hate it when that happens...
Anyway, I still like the game, but you just can't compare it to its great predecessors.

Oh cool, ich dachte schon ich wäre der einzige der auf so Details wie Vatras Hautfarbe und Lares neuer Frisur (und btw. seine Narbe fehlt auch in Gothic 3) geachtet hat ^^
