Oblivion Battleship

I nearly decided not to make a new ship for the second EVE contest. :/ Had inspiration at the last minute and made this in a marathon 3 days. I learned my lesson, it's not as detailed as the previous two ships (which could not be appreciated considering the submission format anyway), but it's detailed enough.

This is a fully textured, near game-quality model, it even has an unwrapped low-poly version ready. I named it after my handle 'Oblivion' because I like it lots. :D Hehe. It's an Amarrian/Blood Raider battleship, 810m in length (around the same size as an Armageddon if you bent it, heh).

Anyway, enjoy. :)

This is my entry for the second Eve create a starship contest, if you like it, do vote. Thanks. :D [link]

EDIT:

I heard some people say it looks like Reapers from Mass Effect, but I'm personally puzzled why. @-@ It bears no resemblance at all: [link] (WARNING: Spoilers to those who haven't played the ME series)

Hrrrrmmmmm....

Thanks. :) That's quite a difficult question to answer LOL. Mostly practice + tutorials. You already have very solid modeling skills, take the next step and learn more on how to unwrap UV's. :) While using shaders/materials is good enough for architectural modeling, more complex details that are done quickly (e.g. for game models) rely on actual texture maps.

The same goes for this ship as I said in regard to the Advent. Even more so. <.< Good luck with the contest.

Good as always :) Good fortune in the competition.
I don't know what CCP is thinking, so many ships more would be great for the game (if you play it and not just skill up like I do ha) - their loss. Anyway I'd agree with it that these competitions are a joke. Time I tried to make money from art :) I hope.

Thanks. :) And yep, I'm still in the process of jumping from garage game dev to pro work myself (tho I'll never give up on modding/indie dev). My main hurdle is of course, my geographical location. You're in Australia, and your own game industry is still growing, so you're far luckier. :) Plenty of opportunities thar, and your work is great! Go send some resumes/fill up portfolios mate. ;P

Probably wouldn't go into the industry again - self dev would be desirable - selling a product on Steam sounds attractive though it would be interesting to know what cut steam gets. You might not get rich selling say a 5 dollar game but it would keep a smile on your face I'm sure :)
My laziness doesn't help in improving my art skills, otherwise I'd probably do something just non-game product wise. No need for programmers or anyone else then :)

Just saw this one up on the voting page and thought to myself, "hey this looks kinda like it was done by that StepIntoOblivion guy...", looked at authors name and saw that it was! Cool man. I dig the shape of the front/back face of this one. I think you're the only one with THREE entries in the semifinals. :P
