Likewise, waiting in the subway for my train feels like I'm standing in line for the sacrifice. Like a lamb or a cow waiting his turn at the slaughterhouse. The howling coming from the tunnel annunciate an incoming monstrosity made of steel and noise, deprived of soul but not of murderous intent. For a brief moment, the urge to jump is there, lurking.
