Weird steampunk/clockpunk-themed "hand mechanism" what I made from brass, silver, steel, leather and some parts of one old alarmclock. (like gears and spring etc.)

Making take almost two months and it's probably the most complex metalwork what I have ever done. Mechanism really works and it move users fingers a short brief of time. (Unfortunately that steel spring is not very strong.)

Edit: 25.12.2008
I finally uploaded one short video to youtube! [link]

I watched the vid and had first thought of this being used, albeit a bit more 'programmable' with more mechanics up the arm. I had an immediate flash of a steampunk piano player having this as prosthesis to be able to play again. He would be able to use a large-ish (or not, using alchemy perhaps) music box built into forearm which would hold the 'program' for the prosthetic. It would hold the notes needed and move his fingers accordingly over the keys.

Very interesting idea. You should draw or make such device in some day. :)

LOL! Draw it perhaps, I don't know that I have the patience to try a build. I'm lugging thru a bit of a slog drawing a carriage and driver atm. I have the concept in my head, just wish I had the 'printable imagination'.

I've looked over most of your gallery, and must say, I am awestruck. You do fantastic work. I love your passion for your art. You have great ideas; blade knuckles, spoon pendants, jewelry, and the list goes on. Your trade has molded you into a fine skilled craftsman. I'm very impressed.

Thanks for the compliments. (And fave)

I started to make new steampunk style jewelry projects about two weeks ago and try post soon my first new pieces to Brass goggles messageboard, but not here until I get all new jewelry sets done. (I make earlier some plans for at least 5-6 different pendant sets for this year, but only first two sets are finished now..)

do you have a tutorial?
Astalo's avatar

No. It's too difficult to make tutorials from so complicated projects.
