I really enjoy watching the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. Love the smooth animation and great characters. A little fanart of my favourite curse. Had a lot of fun making it while trying out a limited color palette.
Practice with a set of near complementary colors (I.e. ultramarine blue and burnt sienna), that you can modulate with white and black to make a range of "colorful" grays, or tints, tones and shades. And use the limits this imposes to tease out a good sense of volume and atmosphere on the basic forms (i.e. egg, box, pipe, cone). Mastering that will pay dividends down the road. Build on a strong foundation.
I used ultra marine blue and alazarin crimson and some white on this one. No burnt sienna in my cabinet momentarily. Since we cannot easily visit stores (long live lockdown) I will have to do with what I have. Ordering more later. Alazarin crimson is probably not the best long term choice, I believe it fades with time. Looking into paint properties right now.
