A quick little experimental style exploration, random... doodling... stuff...
But it involved one of my most fleshed out group in my Alternative Universe: First Contact War, the Sirens of Albicant.

An ancient and secluded group, originally founded to protect and maintain Equine existence amongst all other lifeforms. Often born and grown into it. Although barely known by most ponies, mostly just seen as myths, even when they were created, but especially more so with every passing moon cycle.

Their lives are often held to themself, they're a group that is highly isolated and self-reliant, operating under their own authority. Not having to answer directly to the crown was due to their intention to travel horizons far beyond Equestrian borders. Their loyalty lies with all equines still, to find all wild lifeforms and unite them under the Equine banners by any means necessary. Often resulting in either assimilation or extermination.

Having travelled far and beyond, they've encountered numerous fauna, flora and world anomalies alike. Discoveries and actions out of sight of any pony else, out of mind. It is not often realized what impact they have from the lives it affects. Whether positive or negative,  controlling wildlife, subduing individuals, and other methods they've developed over their active time.

Some may question their methods, the myths, to question their ethics, their purpose, or simply what they've become. As mysteries have build, especially around their strange appearance all of them seem to share. What secrets they hold, and what power they've found.
I've not really documented a lot of the written backstory of FCW. While there's a lot that still needs to be developed, since I'm tackling it on universal scale, there's still a decent amount I do already have a basic concept for. Most of it shown through the art made.

I guess this piece is also to show I haven't abandoned FCW, even though I've not developed a ton for it lately. Being distracted by other stuff. But it's definitely still very much on my mind, and intention to continue developing if I can. My burnout does make it a bit tricky, and a lot of times the start of an idea is easy, but then you have to fine-tune and balance it.

Anyway, the art is a bit simple. Wasn't my intended result, but it was one of those "meh" moments moving my brush around. I want to do a more detailed, refined piece of these ponies some time. Perhaps also have their story worded a bit better. I'm not exactly an experienced writer, and in general sometimes I just can't find the correct words to portray my thoughts anyway.

I remember The Brothers Hildebrandt's Lord of the Rings Calendar, and the sensation it caused when it first came out in the mid-1970's.

This has much the same feel, in its use of light and shadow and color.  But the figure looks less like a posed mannequin--always a fault with the B. H.

This, to me, suggest what magic really should be in literature: not something known and made ordinary as arithmetic but glimpsed obscurely, by half-light, and only for a moment: at gaze and gone again.

Nice, love the way the hood completely hides her face, adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the story you wrote. Kudos =)

I love the way this looks, with the background blurred, focusing on the pon. The lighting is also amazing, it really looks like a forest!
