Jewel in the Rough

Applying my shading in a different way again. Or rather an older way, when I used to think a lot about historical painting styles. Which is where I've drawn a lot of inspiration from in my early years.

It's interesting to see how I've slightly adjusted some things based on what I've learned throughout 2015. (with the figurine like style and such) But in a more concious way about what I'm actually doing and why, and how, etc.

Of course it had to be Applejack, although if you look at the WIP you'd see that wasn't entirely the case at first. Heh, I didn't even think I'd go past the greyscale as this was just a shading doodle in a square on a sketchpage. But sometimes you just go with the flow.

First art upload of the year is always interesting, and I'm afraid I might get into the routine of opening and closing the years with AJ now.
