Sheldon on Popularity by askoi Sheldon on Popularity by askoi
I'm doing a series of about 20 of these little (8x10 on canvas panel) sea creature cartoon guys spewing quotations from artists and writers. They are set to be hung in a tea shop here in Tacoma in March (Mad Hat Tea Company).

This particular quote is by Ernest Hemingway.

The glare is unfortunate but hard to get around as the glass marker I use for lining and lettering has some peculiar properties when faced with a flash.

These will only end up on my Etsy store if they don't sell from the tea shop or if I make too many for the space I have in the March show.

I absolutely love this painting. Not only is it an amazing work of art, the quote is profoundly true ^_^. This was by far my favorite piece of work at your show

Thank you! That, Mitz, and the Beckett one that sold on opening night were my faves from this series.

Will you do one with my favorite Charles Schultz quote?

"Cartooning will destroy you. It will break your heart."

Yes. Hell yes.

I'm not sure which character needs to say it. Don Piano (the crab with the sousaphone) has even made a re-appearance in this series, quoting Samuel Beckett...

Will you make a hermit crab character living in a Campbell's tomato soup can? xDDDD

HAHAHAHAHAH

oh man. that's a lot of lines...

i found one canvas i primed that looks like rain and has Poggles himself on it (the octopus) and i was thinking of using that one for the Schultz quote but I might have to invent the hermit crab now regardless of what ends up quote - wise on this piece
