Hello everyone!

I wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope 2013 will be filled with happiness, creativity and more awesome arts in the A-B-Club!!!

I wanted to know your opinion about something. Let me explain.

Yesterday, a member requested an artwork, It was pretty neat and well done (a 3D rendering of asian lady).
I checked closely and finally decided to refuse it.
The reason is that she had armpit hair... besides of this detail, the work was pretty good.
I have thought it was kind of unesthetic but on the same way, I can understand that some people can like it.
After all, it's a matter of taste but I want to know your opinion about this.
Would you be ok that I accept works of this kind or you think that is not really beautiful to show?

P.S: I remember all the members that nude works with pubic hair are now allowed (it was forbidden until then) as long as it remains in the artistic nude field (no suggestive pose and no genital parts clearly exposed)

I am looking forward your opinions.
Thank you.

Completely disagree! You say the group is about Asian beauty, but beauty is more than fashion, taste or aesthetics. What will you do, if modern opinion says that long hair is not aesthetic? That only pink hair is nice to look at? That only girls with 3 breasts are sexy? Will you then delete your group, because all is rubbish what you collected?
Personally I don't care much about hairy armpits. I guess I prefer without hair, but I don't mind hair.
Of course, in the end, it's your group, and you can choose to do what you want.

Yes, you are right. Beauty may have different kind of standards. I am not really against that kind of works. I am quite tolerant and open-minded about it (After all I launched this topic. If I didn't cared about people's opinion, I would just have rejected the work and no one would have noticed it).
At that time I refused because I have thought that most of the members here would not appreciate it as well but since I got several opinions about it; I think I will probably accept it.
After all, only fools never change their mind. :D

Depends on the current feel of "accepts". Branching off into new territory requires thought as it will always change the perception. I think you made a good call.

well, sometimes it's quite uneasy to decide if the work should be accepted or not.
It wasn't bad at all; but I pay attention to détails usually and this was quite unesthetic to me. But if the majority of the people here would be ok to accept this; then I will do as member want.
for now, it's not sure. If there is more request like this; I may accept them.

I think you made the right decision. It's not "censorship". This is your group, and you are free to populate it with art that you personally like. I have been happy with your choices so far. I think you should feel free to express your opinion in which art you deem worthy of entry in this group.

thank you for your opinion.
It's not so easy to accept some works and refuse others. I try to be cool with the deviations submitted; but I also keep in mind that the level of works submitted here is quite high so I feel a bit sorry for some people whom works get refused.

As you mentioned, it was an Asian lady. I live in China and have found most do not have hair under the arms, but the ones that do don't shave. It is natural to see Asian women with underarm hair
Just some information for you. I don't care either way.

thank you for telling me this.
I had a similar problem some months ago when I still refused nude models with pubic hair visible on it. I asked the photographer to post pictures where it's not visible or shave models; but he told me that most of asian models are not shaved.
It was quite true and I changed the rules about artistic nudes. You are right about it; still as the works with underarms hair are quite rare, I will keep refusing it for now. but it may change as well.

Personally it's not my thing, but I don't think it should be censored. It isn't obscene, and not in the same category as pubic hair. It might look icky to some people, but then again, maybe some feel the same way about bigger bodies or shaved heads or what have you. If we worry about offending a few people's sense of aesthetics we might just as well censor everything. :giggle:

no, it's not obscene. I don't want to censor it. but the topic of the club is Asian ladies beauty... this is the thing I want to point out and sometimes it's not easy.
I think in this modern society most of the people think that unshaved underarm are quite unesthetic for women. I am also in this point of view but you are right as well. I am quite open-minded about that but as the topic is beauty; it may be hard to keep the balance between the beauty standards that most of the people know and some really original works with that sort of contents.

I've actually met quite a few people who think unshaved armpits and legs are beautiful. I don't get it, and I wonder if it's more of an "eff you societal norms" thing...

lol
that could be. I prefer the shaved ones but for sure there are some of them liking it more natural.
No worries for now; I am not ready to accept it in the club yet.

That kind of hair is completely natural and is not a taboo nor it is censored. Females shaving their armpits is a *fairly* new approach to fashion and style but unshaven armpits are not something offensive.
Just like HoekPhoto said - unshaven armpits can be a topic of equal level as not wearing makeup or wearing too much makeup. Same thing applies to public hair.

I understand.
It's a righteous point of view.
I think that could be accepted in the club, but I am not sure most of the people would like it. As the topic of the club is the beauty of asian ladies, it may sounds strange to accept armpit air (the most common opinion is that armpit hair are quite not esthetic to Watch).
For now, I think I will keep that way and refuse it but only the fools never change their mind, so it may change if there is an increasing demand.

I'd rather not see it. but that's a personal preference. I'd also rather not see a ton of makeup but I know others find that attractive. To each their own.

I don't think something like that is egregiously offensive so my vote is to post it and let people decide. My delete button works perfectly. ;)

haha!
yes! You are right. ^^
I think it may change on the future; but for now I will still refuse that kind of work. It may be silly to say that but in my opinion (and modern vision of esthetism) armpit hair and beauty are not fitting together.
