A Dog's Life
A tribute to the man who said that a day without a smile is a wasted day.

Well, time to pick up some old habits again... it's 18 months since my last entry and I noticed, to my great disappointment, that this was also the last time I posted an artwork that was not after a reference. I do those reference works to stay in shape, but I miss being creative and bringing down to paper whatever comes to my mind. I have to face it, I'm currently dealing with a rather extensive artist block, although... It's not particularly a block, I mean I have plenty of ideas, but the moment I find the time to do it, I just cannot get into it. It's always the same, I'm sitting in front of a blank paper, I do the first 3, 4 lines and I already start thinking "This is not going to be the way I want it" and I leave it. My sketchbooks are empty. I feel very frustrated.

It came to my mind that looking at to many great art in here, "how tos" and speed drawings on YT, reading books etc. made me unsatisfied with my own work. That would be rather stupid, I know, for it also inspires me a lot and I find great joy in looking at other peoples work. It makes me longing for becoming better.

So, as a first step to break this blockade and a goal for 2018, I want to do a 30 minutes sketch each day. If that is not gonna help, I don't know what to do anymore.

Does anybody know this problem?

All the best for 2018 to all of you - enjoy your creativity!

Hi there,
and welcome to my deviantart account. I'm a Swiss guy who loves drawing (now that's unexpected, I guess... ;-)).
I have a flair for good fantasy and I'm always looking for kindred spirits. I'm here to learn from the best, to find inspiration and to document my improvements made thanks to your brutally honest feedbacks.
So have a look at my work and if you like it, I would be very happy to hear it. And if you don't like it, I would be as happy to learn why not!

PS: I'm not really experienced in doing commissions, but hey, we were all beginners once I guess. So if my work convinces you, I am open for any kind of cooperation - just send me a quick note.
