In celebration of DA's 14th Birthday, I've decided to complete their request to share my "Deviant Art Story!" :iconhappybirthdayplz:  :cake:

I first discovered this site years ago when I was in high school and have been captivated by it ever since. I think one of the nicest aspects of this site is the community it offers. The ability to foster connections and share appreciation for various interests including fandoms is an excellent medium and a wonderfully formatted and easily-to-use website.

Although I am still growing as an artist, I appreciate Deviant art most for giving us all the ability to learn from one another, teach others from our unique experiences and improve through diligent years of trial-and-error by the encouragement of others who are so excited to see others succeed. We can do it

Digital Coloring Tut pt 1: Basic Getting Started by zdecemberz
I just recently discovered this wonderful and simplistic tutorial that showcases a style that I would like to replicate. There is a series of 5 parts & I would highly recommend you give it a shot!
Art nouveau texture pack by jinterwas
DA is full of amazing resources and one of my favorite parts is the hoard of textures and brushes you can find! Just search and you're bound to find something useful, like this Art Nouveau packet I found last week

Dost AN by Smoxt
Speaking of Art Nouveau, I highly admire Alphonse Mucha's stylistic approach and am enthralled when I come across gorgeous pieces like this that incorporate his traditional style and yet make it their own. This one is especially nice because of the frailty of the woman displayed and the overwhelming theme of purity that is reflected in the flowers blossoming throughout the image.

Crown by Yaphleen
This is another such example and artist whom is greatly lauded for her talent and interpretative vision. :iconyaphleen: is a stunning professional whose gallery can offer much needed inspiration and a whimsical vantage point

kagome by rondeau
One of my favorites due to the simplicity and the composition of such a perfect contribution to this well-beloved fandom. I would love to draw in a style reminiscent of this...and that is why I am drawn to this image - it looks possible yet so very difficult at the same time! The red circle is a bold choice that highlights the character and adds a non-distracting and stylistic element upon an otherwise blank canvas.

Mother and Daughter _ Ursa x Azula by kelly1412
As far as semi-realistic approaches go, I find them to be the most enchanting! This image by :iconkelly1412: amazes me with the subtle use of color, the stark author's signature and the overwhelming emotion displayed. I adore DA because of its ability to generate high quality fanart by professionals and amateurs alike and the opportunity to comment or personally message those whose galleries you anxiously follow

Oscar Francoise by LadyMascetti
I also adore this community because of its introduction to the world of anime and cosplay. This image in particular always stuns me with its grandeur and the distinct aspects the cosplayers chose to demonstrate through the usage of her prop and the setting. Its amazing what users here create and the quality of their collaborations :giggle:

The Founders-- line art by NiccoloMachiavel
The following images are all created by the same artist, who in my personal opinion, is one of the best I have ever found mainly due to her smooth lineart, brilliant detailing and ever so subtle method of coloring and applying texture. Besides that, I also hail her due to her content. If you did not realize who the people are in the above image, its John Laurens, Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, George Washington and the beloved Marquis de Lafayette of course! They are all historical figures who pertain to the American Revolution and what's more, are central figures to a fandom that I cherish - Liberty's Kids!

Through DA, I've been able to collect fanart for characters who are often forgotten or seem more obscure. Through this, I have been able to connect to other history-lovers and those who want to relive their childhood. It's been one of my most enjoyable experiances and I owe it all to DA to be able to find others who share like passions!

I actually host a club here on DA, if you're interested, please check it out, we'd love to have you :D
