Roommates 207 - Immutable

In which the artist almost didn't post this, because it's probably one of the darkest things to happen in Roommates,

In which a SPOILER says SPOILER to his SPOILER.

Not for the weak of heart, heart sick, or anyone who wants a laugh.

Buck is Tallahassee's young (and by young, I'm estimating four years old, tops) son.

ETA: My media player continues to be psychic: the first full song that comes on after I post this? Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven".

Tallahassee belongs to Wernick, Reese, and Harrelson.

Re-read it listening to tears in heaven, as one comic made me do, and now Im crying again Dx
Gaar! I love that song!! This is so sad. :tears: Forgive my ignorance, but what is Tallahassee from?
AsheRhyder's avatar
Tallahassee is from the movie Zombieland.
Ah, I've heard of it but haven't watched it yet. Is it good?

re-read this page about five or six times with a sad face, read a comment about how the song "Tears in Heaven" was written by Eric Clapton for his young son that fell off a third floor balcony and died, put the song on out of curiosity, reread the page while listening and tears came out....
:iconcryforeverplz: good job.

one question, though, why is it that Buck is still dead while James and Javert are only dead in canon?

The same reason why Uncle Ben (Spiderman) the parents of Bruce Wayne (Batman) etc. don't come back either no matter how cheap death is in comic books. Their death is integral part of someone's character. At least Roommates is selfaware about it.

Because the universe is a cruel, cruel place -

In actuality, it's because Buck being dead is a subtle but defining point of Tallahassee's character - immutable because without that breaking point, he wouldn't be Tallahassee (he'd probably be some zombie's lunch). James and Javert died in canon, but it was not the defining point of their character. It's the same reason why Jareth still has villainous tendencies (or at least highly Orange and Blue Morality) and why Erik can never actually get his face fixed, despite adapting to all the other modern technology (which was going to be this other long arc, but I decided to do Such Stuff instead, which turned out much longer and darker and more confusing than intended).
