Sunbeam over Water by ash Sunbeam over Water by ash
Thanks to Paul, a mate of mine from Cape Town, for showing me around Ireland and patiently playing photographer's assistant. He pointed out this sunbeam.

Hi, I've mentioned your name and this photo in my artist's comments on sunrays above the sea. Please let me know if this is all right, or if you would like me to remove the links.

This is stunning. It would make a beautiful backdrop to an inspirational written piece...would you consider letting it be used for something like that? :aww:

Beautiful. I saw one of these sun spots once off the coast of Hermanus, near Cape Town. It followed us along the coast for hours like a faithful dog. This brings back a wonderful memory that i had forgotten about. So a big thanks for that.

Wonderful shot. Definitely caught a great moment here. I love the contrast on the ocean. Personally, I'd like a bit more contrast in the sky to make the clouds more distinct and the sun beam stand out a bit more, but that may just be me.

This is one of the pics you apparently shoot once in your lifetime! It's so great - I have seen such a lightbeam once too - but I hadn't a camera at hands :-( (Sad)

The exposure is spot on.

nice shot. i would have liked to see more contrast in the clouds, but this still looks cool. you could have also tried to convince someone with a boat to go out on the water and look up toward the light so that it wouldn't look like it was just God saying hello to a fish, but i expect that would have been hard to arrange.

Wow..stunning photo. The contrast of the harsh light on the water and the darker water around looks amazing, as do the clouds. And I enjoy the graininess of the image..it looks very nice =) (Smile)

thanks everyone! and by the way, all credit to the Canon engineers for the great exposure in this tricky situation. that's not sarcasm either by the way; they contributed to this shot at least as much as I did.
