If people thought my last shot suggested alienation, I don't know what they'll make of this one :) (Smile)

After I'd had my fill of the park and weird prison-like building I headed down the seediest alleyway I could see and found that it ended at a jetty leading down to the Thames, where the riverbank was strewn with ragged car tires and the remains of a wooden pier.

[edit] rescanned this at a lower exposure setting -- now the bright parts aren't so overexposed

Surrey Quays, London, November 2002
Canon EOS 300, Agfa Scala, scanned slide

thanks. yeah I'm not very fond of the overexposure either -- I might try scanning it again at a lower gain setting and see if that helps

Wow... great composition, beautifully framed, and fantastic depth to it. Obviously the tire makes it special, but you knew that... :) (Smile)

love the way the shot is set up. maybe i just have a strange view of life, but i get a feeling of belonging with this shot. perhaps it's not were it was intended to be, but it seems in place.

Nice shot. I like how the tire's centered around the bottom of the picture. Places like that are so interesting because they're so different from what people are used to seeing.

great contrasts as always, so ill stop there :) (Smile)

I love the subject, and the foreground, and wish you could have done some manipulation, or double exposure so the back wouldnt have been so hot, but i can understand the purist of the photo, aswell.

great feel of detail and isolation

Great capture of the river, part of the buildings in the horizon, and of course the main picture here is the used tire. Seems spooky in a way that all this could be the future.

So you feel abandoned now huh. hehe anyhow I would burned int he background a bit more instead of letting it fall out, you wouldn't have needed that black line to define the border then as well.

You took a simply "ugly" scene and turned it into a beautiful work of art! congrats! This is a very professional quality photo! The contrast is amazing. I am definatley going to check out the rest of your gallery ^^
