i like this for two main reasons. 1st the wave texture is simply cool. 2nd with the island or whatever in the background you put a great deal of information about the spaces in this picture. without it would've been another of those "boat-on-the-endless-ocean" shots.

now it is not - thanks to the rock

(couldn't resist to this great one-lined-poem Laughing )

Fantastic compisition. That rock in the back, makes the shot incredable. ;) (Wink)

I like the feeling that the boat seems alone in the world.

Thanks! I was on a road that winds its way up the hills next to the coast. This is looking directly out across a large bay (probably about 25 miles across) called False Bay. It's called False Bay because, back in the day, it was sometimes mistaken for Table Bay by seafarers in poor weather. Table Bay is the bay in which Cape Town is situated, down there at the Southernmost tip of Africa. In Summer the seawater can be around 10 degrees warmer in False Bay than in Table Bay, because False Bay is fed by warm currents from the Indian Ocean whereas Table Bay catches cold Atlantic currents streaming in from Antartica.

I love it! the sailboat, the yonder rock, it's all so wonderful :) (Smile) the gray tones and the perspective are astounding! where were you when you shot this? it seems high up, like a helicopter or something :D (Big Grin) hehe. Anyways, I love it! keep up the great work!

I'm not sure what I think of the rock up towards the top of the picture, but otherwise this is very nice. I like how the texture of the water changes as you move up the image, and the boat adds a nice bit of life to it. I just can't decide if the rock takes something away from the feel or adds to it in some way I'm not seeing.
