Rupert Street Fire 3 by ash Rupert Street Fire 3 by ash
Apart from myself, there were a few other people with cameras. One I presume was a professional photographer, judging by his camera and massive lens, with which he was shooting handheld in poor light. The others were probably passers by with digicams, I'm often amazed at how many people with cameras spring out of nowhere in London whenever anything interesting happens.

This is my first look at the series and wow, if they all look as good as this...I can't wait to see the rest. You've indirectly captured the furvor and urgency of such a situation. I love the diagonal lines and how the smoke creates its own sort of faded contrast. :) (Smile)

Hmmm good point. I've had occasional theories about this myself -- like noticing that red photos attract people with red icons, etc. So I'm glad it's not just me :) (Smile)

Not only is this shot b&w but so are all the avatars/icons that commented, I just had to mess up the "trend." Plus I wanted to tell you I love the contrast in all of your shots, I am a big fan of deep contrast.. nice.

Great capture. I know what you mean nearly every event I photograph theres this guy with a Nikon D1X and this huge 500mm Nikkor lens. I think he works for the local newspaper or something.

Incredible shot.

In such a spur of the moment situation, you've managed to really take everything in and produce a wonderful piece... I've got money that says this turned out better than anything the pro shot ;) (Wink)

The focus is amazing... I can peek through the rings on the ladder and stare into the victim's face... wonderful and emotive. DOF is incredible with the ladder layered over the building the background... Wow... just can't say enough... this is a beautiful shot!
