Rupert Street Fire 2 by ash Rupert Street Fire 2 by ash
I stood around for about half an hour, playing photojournalist. It's a rare treat to shoot a newsworthy journalistic event as it happens. There's a certain thrill that comes from the knowledge that the scene is happening right now and must be captured the right way right now, or not at all. Suddenly the leisured practicing of composition and technique means so much more when things are happening faster than you can react. It's all about getting The Shot. I've felt this feeling a few times with street photography and to some extent with 'wildlife' photography (read: swans on the Thames). It's a buzz.

great shot. i think this is my favorite. you can almost feel the anticipation of the firefighter on the ladder as he waits to do his hero thing.
