Rhododendron Valley by ash Rhododendron Valley by ash
A flurry of rhododendron bushes on the banks of a river in Snowdonia, in the northern part of Wales. Wales seems to be big on purple, as well as the unbelievable (0, 255, 0) green. Snowdonia is stunning, every turn in the road presents you with some ludicrously beautiful unspoilt vista, often with a sheep close at hand and a castle perched on a hilltop for good measure. It's like some surreal fantasy fairytale kingdom. To Europeans this sort of thing probably isn't quite as big a deal, but to a South African like me it's like finding that all of the mythical green hillsides, stone walls, ruined castles, kings and queens of your childhood fairy tales are actually real. Very cool.

Good grief, those purples are amazing. Great feel on this shot, extremely pleasing to look at. Thumbs up.

This is stunning, ash, and I love the rhododendrons...reminds me of Long Island, NY, where I was born/raised. rohododendrons are so plentiful there. This is a great capture of texture and color too, wonderful work.

I know how you feel, all childhood dreams ARE realized in England, Scotland and Wales. I just returned from England for the fifth time, and it never ceases to amaze me, the US doesn't have medieval architecture, we're too new a country.
