Pride by ash Pride by ash
This shot was posed very spontaneously, they actually asked me to take their picture.

Brighton Pride, Preston Park, Brighton
Canon EOS 300, Fuji Provia 400F, scanned from the slide

Wow. This isn't a side you always get to see. It's really beautiful, I love this shot. Brilliant work; the lighting is warm and the expressions are wonderful. Great photo.

Fantastic shot, I concur with the others that the colour of the light is supurb, but apart from that, their expressions are wonderful, and the faces tell stories. It's a great shot, and after seeing this and others of yours you are now my latest DevWatch! :) (Smile)

Amazing stuff.

three absolutely different expressions, combined with a warm light (good that you hadn't had a b&w film with you. or do you usually carry two cameras???). that's a really gorgeous shot!

Very nice light...and great colour saturation ... but this is a great alternative to the usual happy families shot.

I take photos each year at (Brisbane) Pride for the fag rag I edit. I've found 99 percent of people there are happy (sometimes thrilled) to have you take their pic for the paper.

Fabulous picture Ash. For me this also sums up what Pride is really about, comfort with diversity. Well spotted :-) (Smile)

Someone asked me to take his picture only one time, but I paid for it :( (Sad)
Moreover he wasn't so beautiful like those.

Beautiful light and shadows. This scanner works very well Ash! Can you tell me exactly the model?

doug promised me that people would be very keen to be photographed [at Pride], and he wasn't wrong. half the people there looked like they had stood in front of the mirror that morning imagining the flash bulbs going off. half the time they'll ask you to photograph them, and if you ask them they'll strike some ludicrous pose. very camp, very cool.

Did you get a new scanner? What is it?
Like this photo, but especially that fellow with the hat.
And i agree that this scan still looks very Provia.

Cant believe people ask you to take their pic. That has NEVER happened to me :( (Sad)

I fiddled with the levels etc but I didn't purposefully increase the saturation or anything like that. I think the slide film (fuji provia) is probably doing a good job with the colours; looking at the slides the colours are much the same, brighter even. The scanner settings are on their defaults but who knows what that means, I haven't used this scanner before today.

also, did you change the colors and make them brighter in PS, or were they this bright from the bigging?

the light here is amazing. some you would never capture that well with black and white film.
