Out There by ash Out There by ash
Where's the Photography/Castles section, dammit? Photography/Military and Photography/Architecture don't feel quite right.

This is another shot from Kenilworth Castle, more lurking about in dark and dingy stonewalled rooms with my tripod avoiding the rain outside, trying to see a black wall through a steamed up viewfinder.

No I'm not sure what the hazy smudge is, not that fond of it but didn't have the heart to clone it away. Note the graffiti on the walls -- can you believe some people think nothing of scratching their names onto a thousand year old castle? The thing seems to be made of sandstone, so not much scratching is required. Remind me to build my citadel out of something nice and hard, Igor.

Kenilworth Castle, Kenilworth, England, October 2002
Canon EOS 300, Fuji Neopan 400, tripod, spot metered

Lovely use of lighting and texture. And yes, that grafitti is sad. I like how the walls are just dark enough that if you look closely you can see some detail and yet are still almost black. I love how the gloomy interior contrasts with the brigh light coming in from outside.

Gorgeous... I am in awe of all that excellent negative space. My favorite. ;) (Wink) The light pouring in through the window gives it a really lonely, isolated feeling.

Very, very cool!!! Don't clone! The smuge is great! (unless you have already fixed it, then it is just right!) :-) (Smile) Cool, love everything about it. Just the right amount of light.

Very nice... liked that I saw a bit of the left wall in the larger image... gives it more depth. cant make any suggestions.. its great :) (Smile) .. though i think that smudge is probably really a smudge... possibly on your camera lens.. or projector lens
