Beautiful. I love the way the light illuminates the patches of grass around the ostrich. The misty mountains in the distance and the waves are lovely too.

Actually I'm not sure whether they can ... I made that part up :D (Big Grin)

Ok wait I did a web search, apparently they can do 70 km/h (43 mph)! [link]
If I'd known that I probably wouldn't have taken this shot :) (Smile)

There was a flock of about eight of the buggers, grazing just next to the beach. A surprising sight .. I've seen more 'domesticated' ones on farms before but these were pretty wild, all scraggly and unkempt, like something prehistoric that by rights should be extinct in this day and age. I mean, huge shaggy flightless birds that can outrun a grown man and kick like hell? Riiight :) (Smile)

perfect exposure...i love the light just catching the ostrich's legs, giving it a good definition against the scenery. great composition and atmosphere...

and yes, the title is genius too ;) (Wink)

i love ostriches...the contrast is great, especially since the mist softens it just right...nice nice work
