Some council flats I recently 'discovered' on the north bank of the Thames opposite Battersea.
I've a feeling you'll be seeing lots more of these from me

i love this photo, not only because it brings out the mood of the area really really well (this part of the thames is all mucky and muddy yuck) but also because I basically live next to those flats, which are as bad as hell!

Ah... Forgot one thing: the only thing I don't like about this one is the few structures visible along the skyline to the right, there... Otherwise, just great. :) (Smile)

A very powerful image with a very well-chosen title I think. I vaguely remember spending my first few years in the bowls of such a concrete monster. From what I'm told by my parents it must have been a bit like that Monty Python sketch where it's practically raining people outside the window. -Except that these were not accountants of course. "come on Parkey"...
Anyway... I like this. I don't mean to be joking it away or anything.

lestat: this is just a straight scan of the print, with a very slight levels in photoshop (almost not effect -- the print is largely identical). the print was machine printed at snappy snaps, a (good) chain of high street photo stores in london. I get nearly all my shots printed there -- someday I'll embark on b&w darkroom stuff, but not for now. I took several shots of this scene, spot metered some and left the others to the EOS 300's automatic evaluative exposure mode, but I can't say for sure which method I used for this shot (must start taking notes!). at any rate it didn't seem to make too much difference.

Lovely capture. Really like the composition of the photo. Any post production used or just a straight shot? The contrast is excellent.
