Cyclist on Oxford Street v2 by ash Cyclist on Oxford Street v2 by ash
I decided to play with this one a bit more in Photoshop, in response in particular to some helpful comments from verunec and khalil.

Oxford Street, London, Sept 2002
Canon EOS 300, 28-90mm, Fuji Neopan 400, lab, scanned neg, some digital darkroom
Criticism welcome, as always

Yes, it's a 28-90mm on about 28mm. I used the RadWarp photoshop filter (from Kais Power Tools 5) to make the horizontal lines horizontal, then Edit/Transform/Skew to make the vertical lines vertical. I'm not normally a big fan of messing with images in photoshop -- I prefer to aim for the best possible image with the camera -- but in this case it made such a great difference there was no way I could resist :) (Smile)

(the 'barrel' distortion, 'barilotto' in italian - little search on the dictionary :) (Smile) - I hate this kind of distortion) probably a zoom wide lens?

Ah, busy Oxford St., London, nice capture, I like the b&W tones, and the greyness too, nice movement and composition.

It's one that needs to be stepped back from to enjoy I think, take in the entire composition... it's really a great piece, which could be used to depict a number of themes... things to do with him just sailing by on his bike while all others mill around.

It's a really good shot. :) (Smile)
