Interesting point; I might give that a try. I certainly don't have any particular fondness for the distortion :) (Smile)

A madly difficult photo to take. Fortunate about the dude on the bicycle, but I think it would have been great without him too...
If I had taken this I would have whipped it into photoshop and corrected the perspective. The barrel distortion is cool in a way, but the lines of the building would look better lined up with the frame - IMHO.
At first glance the building lookes stark and utilitarian, it makes me think of Eastern Europe for some reason, but the the bus stop establishes the london connection.

the first thing that came to my mind was the 'the tortoise and the hare' fairy tale :) (Smile)

just a thought: so that's why they always tell cyclists to dress in bright colours! :) (Smile)

Great photo ash! See? these surprises are good!... what if he wasn't in the pic? and what i like the most is that the rest of the street is totally empty, the
pavement very crouded and he stand almost in the middle of the it..

Thumbs Up

Hey yeah you're totally right! Wow that would kick some ass. To be honest I hadn't planned on shooting the cyclist at all. I was having a hard enough time just getting a clear view of the opposite side of the road (do you know how *busy* oxford street is on a saturday afternoon? :) (Smile) ), then the cyclist came into view as I was lining up the shot and I clicked the shutter in one of those split second all-cylinders-firing YES/NO decisions that for me are the thrill and joy of street photography.

Well, this is the exact case where the subject should be white dressed! (the 'punctum' theory :) (Smile) ). Can you fancy this shot with a 'white' cyclist?
Anyway is good, and the cropping fits perfectly.

cool shot. it looks kinda creepy to see a lone cyclist in front of a bunch of people just standing around.
