The photo looks fantastic. Especially the clouds are fascinating me, but also the strong contrast between windows and darkness looks great.

Fantastic... it's as if some sort of massive machine is about to spring into action atop that building. :) (Smile)

This one seems to me to be more focused on the lights, the elctricity of the scene, making a more dramatic effect within the overall composition.

Funny, 2 shots with the same subject and still they look completely different. I like the composition and the lights, which seem to shine through every window. The plumes of condensation (or steam) although maybe a fluke, make the picture more alive.
Shame though the sky and water don't come out as strong as in the other picture. But that's probably just me *drinking wine*

ill never understand why shots like this never make it to the top favs, but others do (such as 1 or 2 sitting there right now).

I wish your previous shot had the sharpness of this one, because i like its composition, and feel, a bit more, but this is still quite amazing. I think the fact remains, however, that this is a basic night shot. you, however, found an extraordinary subject, in that great ramp shooting the low clouds, steam, etc. right off of it, while also being lit, which to me, makes this shot as amazing as it is.

some areas are a little hot, but overall its beautiful and well exposed.

well done

those plumes of steam (?) are amazing. like *acrophile said...sand dunes spring to mind.
as always, the tonal range is stunning...rich black, sharp whites, and everything in between. a dark shot, yet the contrast is just right.
and yes...the mood and clarity are just superb.
