The Alchemist's Assistant by Ascynd The Alchemist's Assistant by Ascynd
OK I posed for pichur... U gimme shiny nao.

Poser 7. Black texture for Draconian wings, check. =)
This image used so many props I don't even know if I can remember who made them all to credit.

I'll try.

DAZ: MilDragon Hatchling, Draconian wings (Gareee), Antique table, Magic stick and map (3d Universe).
RDNA: Morphing candle (I added my own flame) TP Stone Arch
Renderosity: Crystal Ball (Joe Kurz) Row of books (GPS), Lab equipment (3DT)

Alot of texture modification and a crap ton of raytracing. I'd do depth of field but I think my computer would cry.

Thanks! I did a lot of work on that one. I wonder if I could do a better version now that my computer has had some upgrades.

He's cute. One way to get that depth of field without all the hassle is to output a depth map and use it to drive a lens blur filter inside Photoshop. Just a suggestion there that can save you some time. Very cool image. My daughter would probably dig it a lot. :) -Les

That's a great idea... unfortunately I don't have photoshop, but maybe I can figure out how to do it in Gimp. Especially now that my computer has had a few upgrades. Thanks! =)

What might work out of Gimp would be to output the depth layer from Poser or DS, whichever you use, then take your final render, duplicate it into a new layer and apply a gaussian or zoom blur to it, then give it a layer mask and paste the depth channel into that mask. Depending on how alphas work in Gimp, you may have to invert the mask, but either way, you could then use level adjustments in a layer mask built from the depth data to define where in the distance your blurring kicks in and to what degree it does. :)

this cute little guy made me think of a book, especially with the title x3 because there is a book series with a little dragon o.o and an alchemist I think. could be me getting two different dragons mixed up xD it was from a long time ago.

He's oddly cute, but in a ferocious "I'm going to eat your finger if you touch me" way. Very nicely done background. Rich details that don't pull away from the dragon. The bright green eyes are a great touch that really draws the eye in.

Thanks, that's what I was pretty much going for. Everything I do is a practice session for something or other, in this case it was raytracing, which I hadn't used much, a lot of refraction in this. The transmission I had to paint in by hand, though, lol

Thanks! I've got some hatchlings that design but different colors. The milennium dragon hatchling was the model used but its wings were so terrible I had to get it a new set of wings, re color them and in some cases do a lot of painting work to fix it, lol...

Thanks! It's a Poser render with post work done with Gimp, mostly to add in light transmission. Poser does refraction well enough but no transmission at all.
