Stheno (Drake Form) by Ascynd Stheno (Drake Form) by Ascynd
This is a Plummet Drake as the species designed by :iconnestly:. Her flower is the Cobra Lily.

Notes: The tail in "bud" form is curled tight. When it opens in plummet form it grows bigger, unfolds the "forked tongue" and takes on bright red colors, making the transparent "windows" in the trap more visible. The membranes of her wings and ear frills have the same lacelike pattern of red, green and translucence as the cobra lily's hood. Her tail has the  spiral appearance of the cobra lily pitcher's stem as well as the flattened "ribbon" along one edge. .Retractable spines start along the top of the tail and spiral around. The trap itself curls upward like a scorpion's sting.

Stheno is NOT hairless, her fur is short as in many dog breeds, and is also dense and waterproof. Her tongue is bright red and forked like the flower's. Her hair is long, decorated with colorful beads and strings, and arranged in dreadlocks and braids, almost looking like a mane of serpents. Hence the name Stheno (Stheno was a Gorgon, one of Medusa's sisters). Her personality is much like her namesake's... independent and ferocious.

Future Modifications: I may make the purple marking on her flank something a little more subtle, haven't decided. The hair may run red closer to the root as well (perhaps at least in Plummet form). I might have gotten lazy on the windows/lantern appearance of the tail, but that should be more dramatic in her other form, anyway. I also have to finish the plummet form of course. It will probably take awhile as the wings are tricky.

WOW. This is way more detailed than I could ever design a Plummet Drake! XD Holy cow!
I looove the colors and the tail! So creative! I can't wait to see the Plummet form and how you implement the flower. Cobra Lily seems like quite the unique plant!

Again. thank you for taking interest in my species. :] I really enjoy seeing your ideas!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! =D Well like the venus flytrap one you showed on the drake info page, the growth on this one's tail is actually the trap, not the flower... but I was thinking of putting an actual bloom on her somewhere for her plummet form as well, perhaps in her hair or on a streamer twisting up the tail. The bloom isn't as dramatic as the trap but it is pretty, with sharp light green and deep red/purple petals. Any ideas?

Right on. Yeah Drakes are special because they can use plants and not just flowers, where as Pups have to be flowers. So you can do some fun and unique ideas with that. :]
I think the idea you have is great! Honestly. XD I can't think of a better one!

Great! I could put a flower in her hair for the plummet form then. Although it doesn't need to be there, it would be cool to have it represented.
