Inktide 11: Run by Ascynd Inktide 11: Run by Ascynd
Knew I wasn't going to be able to do every single day but that's no excuse to quit. :P Have a puckoo being chased by a creature of my own imagination.

That design is really cool! It makes me think of some kind of feral, swamp-dwelling subspecies.

Thanks! It's one of these guys:

...a gorgonopsid-like species I was kicking around awhile back, I should try and tweak them a bit since my skills have improved since then.

I would encourage that, if you find the time. Were they intended for Wyngro?

Yes but I think their design was deemed overly complex or hard to draw. I might be able to tweak it so there's a sort of 'base model' which is more simple, and can be made more complex optionally for some individuals (pack alphas, subspecies and the like).

That's pretty cool. They came off as pack hunters when I saw them first a few minutes ago, funnily enough. They'd be great predators, albeit rare ones if they're as dangerous as they look. Can't have too many danger beasts around the town.

Yeah I intended them for a similar niche to wolves. They generally avoid civilization, so if you're not deep in the wilderness the most you might encounter is a lone 'rogue' (rogues are more likely to attack livestock as well). They are territorial however and will aggressively defend their dens and pups (like most animals).

They'd fit right in. Now all we need is a deer-surrogate and we'll have a good old-fashioned circle of life (so they've got something to eat besides wild Puckoos). No rush though, good world-building takes a ton of time.

A large enough pack can hunt wild rattle cattle. I think someone also had an idea for a moa-like two legged bird-ish creature that would also fit the niche well. =D
