Alolan cats (alternative designs) by asami96 Alolan cats (alternative designs) by asami96

Alolan Meowth (fake redesign) and Persian.

I really like the concept of this alternative forms for already known Pokémon, (kinda like the deltas from “Pokémon Insurgence” actually), but Meowth was a disappointment because it is cool, but in my opinion the design is lazy and a waste of potential.

So this was my atempt to do something else with it... I failed to copy the artstyle (I think I will never learn how to do it) but the idea is there. As it is a royal breed, I took inspiration from the siamese cat, keeping part of the official palette for Meowth.

For Persian it was more speculation, as I had nothing to work with (besides the original, of course). So it is a dark/psychic type, mostly because having a pure  dark type cat with two evolutionary stages sounded too similar to Liepard to me. Also I kinda picture it like a fancy pet doing psychic tricks at its master parties or something like that.

In my opinion, you draw them too much stuff. Elelash and earrings shouldn't be put on Persian and Meowth. Seriously, no cat Pokemon had that kind of stuff. It makes your alternate version looks like, if they are a different version of Gatomon and not a part of Pokemon.
You didn't write, why you make both extra feminine. This was not necessary.

Hey, I can gladly take an opinion and/or a critique, but saying my work is "not necessary" is neither of those. Besides I fail to see how this is more "feminine" or why such preconceptions about how certain gender is supposed to look should matter.

About Gatomon, I honestly don't have a clue... not a big fan of Digimon, but Meowth and Persian canonically tend to like shiny stuff and this is a royal breed, so I just added shiny fancy stuff, that's it.

I agree on something tho, a little to much jewelry and stuff of the like is a recurrent thing with my work, but that's just the way I do things.
