Casting the Runes by ArwensGrace Casting the Runes by ArwensGrace
This is for competition Shaman/Animal Totems :[link]

I have used her figure stock and the rest of the image is made up from all my own photographs and textures.

The female Shaman would consult the Runes or the 'bones' and call upon the animal spirits for guidence .

I had the film 'The 13th Warrior' in mind when I was creating this, one of my favourite films :-)

WoW! This setting conveys it all. Mysticism. Danger. Spiritism. Opportunity. This is wonderful.

The link for the print is not available, and I would really like to send this as a gift to a friend. It's an excellent piece and represent the essence of a rune caster.

Just a quick bit of trivia....

" Rustyspoon " here on DA WAS the "little girl" that ran away and was picked up by the hero in that very movie. ( she is also featured in psychokitty's page.. and is the 'angel of death' in my own gallery.)

Personally, I loved the book ( had illustrations by one of my favourite artists - Ian Miller - and was an EXCELLENT retelling of the Beowulf saga ( without being 'Aliens' lol! ) ) and was just about as happy with the movie as I could be.

It was just strange coincidence I moved to the town it was filmed in, and worked with one of the people who was in it.. and one of the 'old men' from the show is one of my regular clients at the camera shop too!

Keep well... love your art!

seriously tho - i love the pagan concept. i would have made the ground the focal point and added fewer elements above her to detract from it. but that's just me. :twocents:
