More commissions, yay!
This is for :iconnala15:, and it's their lovely characters Uru and Rehema, from the TALK-inspired comic "Betrothed".
Check it out! It's a great read!  Betrothed Cover by Nala15
In this alternate version, Mufasa and Scar are half-brothers sharing the same mother, Uru. Rehema here is a rogue who will end up fathering Scar.
I love the relationship between these two! It was fun to depict their playful, cuddly interaction!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

You can view this drawing's step-by-step process on my instagram!…

This looks amazing! :la: I love the more realistic style you chose for this picture - Uru is so beautiful, and Rehema's mane is so detailed. I especially like the way you defined their muscles and made the lions look really powerfull, like the hunters and fighters they are.

I still love this so much, Arven! You did such a wonderful job bringing Uru and Rehema to life in your style. Their poses and expressions are just so perfect. Uru's playful kissy-flirting and Rehema's charming/semi-surprised smile... I just can't stop going back and admiring all of it. :aww: The details you added to their fur and Rehema's mane make me want to pet them and see how soft it is. The BG is subtle, but still beautiful as well (I always love how you do African trees)!
I'm so looking forward to getting this in person in the post. :eager: It's gonna be awesome, I'm sure!

By the way, thanks for including the mention of my comic in your description. :tighthug: That was so kind of you! And you directed several new readers and watchers my way thanks to that. :D I'm honored.
Thanks again for the commission, Arven! I'll be back for another someday, I'm sure of it. ;P

Such vibrant colors! I am loving this! I especially like the muscles and the sheen of the coats as well ad background textures. You're great at digital as well but your traditional art is so rich. I'm a traditional artist at heart so stuff like this just makes me plain giddy. I see you have some kind of textured paper, I'm curious as to what kind? I have pastel paper and various cold press papers kickin around and I need to find a use for them. My old go-to was Strathmore smooth Bristol board for my coloring style but I like to hear other's input too. Also wondering if you use a watercolor "base" for stuff like this? Okay I'll refrain from spamming ;p

HHH thanks so much!! I'm really loving working on this new method! And I can totally understand haha, I'm also a sucker for other artists' traditional techniques :D
The paper you see is Canson cold press watercolor (the same I'm using for your commission <3), which has a lovely texture and is great for washes (you are correct! I do use a watercolor base for these drawings, then add details with pencils. Here's what the piece used to look like the the beginning:… use the smaller arrow within the picture to scroll to the WIP images :D)
I also use bristol paper, but that's for dry media, since it doesn't all water washes very well :)

Didn't expect to see a commission by Nala, but given how fantastic you draw lions, it had to happen! Looks awesome!
