So throughout most of my childhood, I have seen (for the rarest Christmas moments) Old Grinch movies that have entertained a lot of kids like me in the past. Kids used to enjoy the Grinch Cartoon from the 1980's to the Real-Life Grinch that stole Christmas movie from 2000, along with other types of holiday stuff. But I never expected to see This One!
But today... as we're getting close to the end of 2018... which I honestly believe sucked a little bit more than 2017 and 2016 combined... Has now come up with a Brand New CGI Animated film of the Grinch, and I have to tell you, I'm Not on board with this animated movie that I would call "A tame adaptation" of the other Grinch films that I would say have made better childhood masterpieces regardless of any of their awkward cut scenes. So I did some research on my own to see how the public expressed their reactions towards the new 2018 Grinch movie, and I saw that most of the ratings the movie got were mostly positive, saying that it's Family friendly and was way better than all other Grinch films combined... but not all of them were the majority here.
But...... I would wholeheartedly disagree, when I look at ratings, I look for the lowest ones that are around OK-ish to Terrible, and to give you all a piece of my mind. I find the new Grinch very simplistic in appearance, he lacks anatomical features and looks like a slim stretchable blob, his face looks exaggerated; yeah not too many details to observe on it's body, the new Grinch's behavior also appears too tame and innocent by the looks of things, the new Grinch doesn't really act sour or unsympathetic at heart but rather pretends to be unsympathetic and grumpy to continually hide his innocent attitude, like pulling the both sides of his mouth downward every time he smiles, or act like he regrets saying nice things he thinks he's not supposed to say, and that shows me that even if the Grinch has changed styles over the years, his personality has obviously changed as well to the point that he isn't a sore selfish jerk that he is supposed to be, and his voice sounds nothing like the older Grinches of the past decade and instead sounds more like a common normal type of voice most Dreamworks Illumination characters have today; close to normal, realistic, men voices, as if the voice actors didn't put in enough effort to exercise their cords to make a special vocal tone for a cartoon character, and if you've heard the Grinch's new voice, you could even relate it to the voices of Wreck-It Ralph, Detective Pickachu or Secret Life of Pets, and starring a new but not original character that has a normal voice similar to other characters in past animated films doesn't make them anymore unique in character in my opinion, and I have noticed it in some other newly-made animated films that claim to be the "best motion picture ever" while the public continue to see something really vague or fluffy in the movie itself.
And If I were to go to a movie theater to watch a new animated film, I'd rather watch Ralph Breaks the Internet because I think that is the only sensible movie I can afford myself to watch, because honestly though, the new Grinch movie is as lame as the Emoji Movie, that everyone ABSOLUTELY HATED SO MUCH Because Millennials such as me were already embarrassed and also ashamed about their modern generation with all the Iphones and the Social Media that has gotten society divided, perverted, and dumbed-down with all the Memes, the Pornhub, and it's meaningless celebrities like Kylie Jenner, 6ix9ine, and Paul Brothers, and seeing the Emoji movie gust brings insult to misery, like how the new Grinch movie today is like an Insult to well-lived 90's and 2000's childhood. So i wouldn't watch it in a theatre, I'd rather watch it and home so I can see how it really is.
I also wonder why the environmental style of Dreamworks CGI animation went from Solid and realistic in 2006 to all Stretchy and Rubbery in 2018? I felt like I wanted to observe dated CGI movies like Monster House and compare it to all the other animated films evolving to this year and see how radically the movement of the characters have loosened up.
