With less than a month left before the Presidential Election in the United States, getting out the vote and the participation of the citizen in the democratic process has never been more important.

In fact, it is difficult for many of us to recall the last time the stakes in a political contest were so high, not only for Americans but for the world as a whole. People around the globe are watching this campaign as it unfolds, waiting and wondering whether the Bush administration will be given a second mandate, or if John Kerry and the democratic party will be given their first term of governance in a post 9/11 world.

While those of us who reside outside the US cannot directly influence the outcome of this election, we can and should do whatever we can to encourage participation in the electoral process, not only in America but in all democratic nations.

With this goal in mind the ArtPolitic political art collective is issuing an an open call to any and all artists interested in contributing to our upcoming campaign on the theme of voting and elections. Submissions may be visual art, photography, prose, poetry or essay and should be submitted in GIF, JPG, TIFF, TXT or DOC format. Deadline for submissions is October 30th, 2004.

Submissions can be made via the ArtPolitic website or emailed directly to submissions@artpolitic.org.

ArtPolitic 10: Marriage

The ArtPolitic collective cordially invites the the public to attend the formal joining of Art and Politics in the sanctity of marriage.

Having quietly celebrated the two year anniversary of our inception, the ArtPolitic crew is back again with a collection of work centered on the theme of Marriage.  Our latest campaign features digital, traditional and written works, ranging from the heated issue of same sex marriage to the reasons why we enter into wedlock.  

While it is by no means a comprehensive exploration of this ancient cross-cultural tradition, these twenty pieces of work express the thoughts and opinions of the contributing artists which we hope will serve as a catalyst for discussion and debate.

The AP crew returns to the scene, squeezing off a twenty-one round clip of its trademark brand of political art on the topic of guns.

This pack features a collection traditional, digital and written work that explore themes from school shootings to the dangers posed by firearms in the home.  Gun control advocates and NRA members alike will find some food for thought within the pages of ArtPolitic's ninth pack.

We hope that you will take the time to view our work and perhaps share your thoughts on the often controversial topic of guns and the impact they have upon our society and world.
