"Sirrus is here breaking stuff and Achenar's being scary and Yeesha's tied up in a rotting flower and none of the natives are being of any help and do you know how much this call is costing me???"

I had to do this joke. It is, of course, a play on the horror movie/urban legend "When a Stranger Calls."

And ya know, it's canon that Atrus has a telephone next to him while he writes, cause you can call him in one of Cyan's other games (I think it's The Manhole, but I could be mistaken).:XD:

Aww, thank you! :aww: Cyan is so much fun to draw, I always have fun with his comics. I'm so glad you're enjoying him too! :D

I sometimes felt like Atrus was neglectful in MYST with his constant travel to ages.

It does kind of look that way.

At least Atrus turned out better than his dad.>.>

Yes!  Badness and goodness seem to skip generations in that family. :XD:

Hmm...Maybe it's a recessive gene.

Awesome XD

I like that game and this question really fits to it.
Somehow the most scaring part in the game was, the coffinlike machine in the end. I looked through the window and didnt expect anyone >.>

Yep.  Kind of a shocker. :O_o:

Oh, I think there's an easter egg in the colored version of the manhole. it takes some hidden steps, but you can call Atrus with a certain phone number. Seriously. I haven't actually tried it myself, but I know it's there.

Oh yeah, I know! I've done it.:D

One time, from what appeared to be legit in the first Myst game, I thought a guy in one age could speak to someone else through a Linking Book's panel, like video-chat and what not. However, Cyan blatantly disproved all of that in the later games, saying that it was only for artistic stuff.

They also disproved the existence of "Trap Books" (ie: The converted green K'veer book in Riven)

Though I didn't expect Atrus to know how to use a phone either! I would've expected a 1920's candlestick one if he did.

I've actually just been able to play "The Manhole" recently, and what he says when you call him is "This is Atrus, speaking to you through a cleverly-written phone book." Cyan hasn't addressed that bit of canon, haha!:D

The Manhole was playable on Gametap, but I didn't feel like playing it, and boy do I regret it now! I wanted to find those eggs (after spoiling it accidentally) but it was too confusing, even for a childrens game. (at least for me). I quit Gametap because they shut down URU live in 2008, and their other games were crawling with bugs.

I have no clue where I could play the Manhole now.

You can buy it from www.gog.com (along with lots of other great old games) for like $4 or something. That's where I got it, though everything was half-price when I did so, and I actually got it for $2. Sweet.:D

I found it for somewhere around $15 bucks on Amazon just now. Ordered with the addition of the last of my 3 Amazon cards. thanks for the tip. I bet my stepsister might like it.

I honestly never knew you could call Atrus in The Manhole until now. I'll have to grab the old Manhole disc and find the number. I do know you could watch the Making of Myst on Mr. Rabbit's TV...

s"Sirrus is here breaking stuff and Achenar's being scary and Yeesha's tied up in a rotting flower and none of the natives are being of any help and do you know how much this call is costing me???" XDDD I actually like this line better than the one in the comic. How do they get service in Serinia though? *Ponders* Would have been nice to have been actually able to do this though. “Hey Atrus? Yeah, I’m at this hot air balloon thingy in Voltaic that seems I’m supposed to get it running. Could you maybe give me a hint or two here…?”

Haha, but it HAD to be "Have you checked the children???" because that's the line from the urban legend, which is the whole point of this comic.;p

Oh man, I know! But all Atrus says if you call his phone is "I'm sorry, I must continue my writing." (I'm not making this up. You find his number in one of Cyan's other games - I believe it's "The Manhole" - and you can dial it into a telephone. That's the message you get!:XD:)

What urban legend would that be? :?

Somehow, I never expected the Stranger to look like that. He looks too much like Link.

Haha, don't worry, they were created independently.:XD: Never played any of the Zelda games myself, and all I knew about Link's looks at the time were from his old design, when he had shaggy brown hair.

I tried to make him nice and generic so that he could represent the player in a general way, but don't forget, this is just my personal interpretation of the Stranger. Everyone's got their own version.
